Only if Barcelona needs to have another "Fire sale". He has 3 more years left on his contract with a €500 million release clause, but if they want to dump his wages anything is negotiable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Lewandowski#Barcelona
Well Lewandowski likes playing in the Spanish league where there is "less pressure" so who knows if he could hack it in MLS? Lol.
I suppose it is a little unlikely that anyone currently (or formerly) associated with the Fire became close personal friends with Marcus Theram.
I guess I wish there were some actual rumors floating around. I mean this damn club... It's the hope that kills ya.
DP#9 is a mythical beast like a unicorn or chupacabra. There is no way the Fire are actually willing to obtain one.
No way. We were PROMISED a DP9 months ago right here on BigSoccer. Are you saying a random poster might not be the single most accurate purveyor of information ever?[emoji50] My world has been crushed.[emoji17] Chupacabra would score more than Kacper, as long as there are no goats around.[emoji106]
Think of how many away tickets we sell at other attendance struggling stadiums when people find out the Fire signed Chupacabra? It's going to be an attraction larger than Messi and bound to draw not only the believers but skeptics to the league. A BIG WIN for MLS (or THE MLS for those of you that are also peeved by the semantics of adding a THE where it's not needed. What peeves me more is MLS website is actually MLS Soccer thusly Major League Soccer Soccer because some real estate firm owns MLS dot com.) [
In case the front office is trolling around here I'm just gonna place this article here: https://thetrivelaeffect.com/ranking-the-10-best-strikers-on-the-2023-summer-transfer-market/ Or this...Make No Little Plans https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...e-hottest-forwards-market-heading-summer.html
from the Athletic on potential MLS out transfers: Chris Brady, Chicago Fire Taking over as starting goalkeeper after Gaga Slonina’s transfer, U.S. youth international Chris Brady is highly-rated as well. Chicago rejected a transfer offer for Brady ahead of the 2022 season, before he even made his MLS debut. is it public which team made an offer?
"A formal offer was presented to Chicago last November, which was rejected, but a new round of negotiations is expected to commence shortly." https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...brady-eyed-belgian-champs-club-brugge-sources
Saw the article about Noeh Hernandez call up for Puerto Rico Gold Cup. Not a name I am familiar with. Other 18-20 year-old Fire forward prospects include Glasgow, M Rodriquez and Monis. Given that all have received favorable comments, what is the likelihood that one or more contributes measurably this season?
No shot. Not because none of them are good enough, but because none will likely be given chances. Fire's gonna keep having to chase after a playoff spot the whole season.
Are any of them are physically mature enough, or fast enough to avoid being bodied? We saw the challenge with that during Djordje and Guti’s first years…
Likely zero. Academy grad Hernandez made a few appearances last season. He has come on strong the last month, and unless Monis hasn't been fully fit he has taken over his starting spot for Fire II. It was also announced yesterday he committed to play at De Paul. Glasgow has played wingback in the same manner as Haile-Selassie with the first team. A year ago I'd say he was a shoe in for a first team deal, but I'm not so sure now. Missa Rodriguez has fallen out of favor to the tune of 163 minutes in his last 5 appearances. That includes 2 PK misses in shootouts. He's not a forward, but Wisconsin commit Trip Fleming is another Academy grad who has logged nearly 2700 minutes from 33 appearances for Fire II. He is a scrappy Swiss army knife who played positions from fullback to attacking mid (4g,4a). He does good things often, and bad things almost never.
Harold Osorio is strong enough on the ball, but his foot speed is lacking an extra gear. His vision & passing ability are top notch by Next Pro. We'll see if that will translate to the first team level sooner rather than later.
