Only negative is that the jocks will lord over the fact they’ve had another manager win a European trophy.

As of this summer that’s not the case I think due to UEFA changes. Maximum length for FFP is now five or six years.

No Rice for the Malta match. Sounds like a very thin bench (Likely 18 players or less travelling to Malta if Bellingham is not replaced) with no West Ham or Man City Players on it at all. Southgate is well known to be not be keen on players dealing with transfers or contracts during international camps so he won’t want Rice to be in the waiting for a medical at Arsenal limbo someone like Bellingham is with Real Madrid at the moment.

Just compare that to the way Levy goes about things, holding players captive with no respect for what they have contributed to his club. I know who I'd rather work for.

Gonna be so depressing when Rice rejects Bayern to compete for top four every season at Arsenal.

From reading between the lines they are genuine reasons why he is quite reluctant to leave London. Had Chelsea not become a mess and trigged tensions with his best friend he would likely habe joined them instead.

Why? In one team he only has to turn up to win the League, In the other team he'll be constantly fighting other good team to win the League. He's more likely to improve as a footballer at Arsenal then at Bayern.

I think it’s the theory that winning in general helps a player develop.

If kane turns down Madrid to stay at spurs then I despair. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. He has to take it

When was the last time Arsenal developed anyone into an elite midfielder?

I could sign for Bayern and win the league.

Are you trying to say Arteta (a Midfielder himself btw) is bad at developing young players?

How does winning games at a canter every week improve a player? I'd have thought you develop more through better coaching, better fitness regimes, playing alongside better team mates and, in Bayern's case, having the mind-expanding exoerience of living in another country.

Considering this is the first season in 7 years Arsenal have made the champions league, i'd be pretty wary of that move for Rice. Ideally we'd have our key players regularly getting the kind of high-quality, high pressure European knock out games in the champions league that really prepares a player for international knock out tournaments in a way I don't think other types of football necessarily do.

Just getting used to the pressure of managing those kind of huge games is a big deal, particularly against the highest quality opposition. Kane for example as good a player he is, has rarely shown it in the highest profile games, I do wonder if he'd had more experience at a better club if he'd developed into a better big game player. Rice would certainly get those kind of games at Bayern Munich, Arsenal its hard to say how much this season was a fluke.

Confidence is a massive thing in football and if Rice is playing for Bayern, winning titles and going deep in the CL he's going to come into summer tournaments in his best form. It wouldn't be a surprise in the slightest to Arsenal finish in 7th or 8th in the Premier League next season and be a lot closer to West Ham on points than the title. Bayern is by far the best move for him in my opinion but I doubt he'll take it.

I tend to agree. The counter argument, I guess, is that Bayern and the Bundesliga are not particularly strong at the moment, particularly compared to the Premier. Rice would be playing against better players, managed by better coaches, on a week to week basis here, so he'll always be at the top of his game.

Winning most of your games can breed confidence, yes, but it can also lead to a false sense of your own worth if the competition isn't top notch.

That’s true through Argentina’s squad wasn’t vastly experienced at CL level so it’s not 100% essential.

And both Mount and Foden have played in the CL final and both have had several poor games for England since then.
