Oh, I know we all knew this at the time but it would be nice to see it in black and white in their own words.

It was one year ago today when Boris Johnson promised to mend his ways over repeatedly lying if he was given another chance, having the previous day narrowly survived a confidence vote as leader of the Conservative party. It was eleven months ago today when Boris Johnson resigned as Prime Minister having lied repeatedly over the appointment of a known sex pest to his cabinet.
Oh well......Chicken are coming home to roost for the Tories... The UK’s opposition Labour Party is on track for a landslide victory at the next general election, according to a new poll — with a higher than typical sample size — that is likely ramp up the pressure on Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak,” Bloomberg reports. “Labour could win 470 seats at the election, with the Tories plummeting to just 129, according to the baseline scenario of an MRP poll by Focaldata, which asked 10,140 people in Great Britain how they intend to vote. That would give Labour a huge majority of more than 140 seats, it said.”
I just don't get how the Tories can govern when they are so so so unpopular. I guess it is always good to be king, but it is clear that they country doesn't want them in power.
They can't really govern is the answer. Obviously the civil service can continue to run the country, but any agenda for this government has collapsed. Which is quite amazing when you consider the size of their '19 mandate. Apart from finalise Brexit they've mostly done nothing I was getting at this a few weeks back that the Tories seem to functionally incapable of gripping the country and implementing any kind of policy Meanwhile they have worsening crises in NHS, Immigration etc
They closed parliament early for the day earlier in the week as they had nothing to progress with - no bills, no debates If they're not going to govern then they should step down
I don't know when Keir will start pivoting to the "If all you want to do is ask us what we would do, call a general election so we can take reins of government" line of attack but it should be soon.
I think jitty was using the phrase more as a euphemism, tbh. As you say, brexit isn't a 'thing' now, or en 'event'... it's more a process. We haven't 'got brexit done'. We've fired the starting pistol. Just watched this which was interesting. It's ex PM, John Major, making predictions before the vote as to what would happen if we voted leave. The only thing he got wrong was his idea that there would be tariffs, (he suggested around 10% as a likely average). But, obviously, that was never likely to happen as it meant the EU shooting themselves in the foot which they had no interest in doing. I mean, that was OUR job
How will we cope. Nadine Dorries has not spoken once in the Commons since Boris Johnson announced he was resigning last JulyShe has voted on just four days since last summer— John Stevens (@johnestevens) June 9, 2023
Johnson's honours list is basically a rogue's gallery. Dishonours list…The one who arranged the partiesThe one embroiled in Teeside scandalThe one who told us Brexit would bring cheaper foodThe one who gave the finger outside No.10The bully who boasted about taking away our freedom of movement & was fired from GovtGross.— Marina Purkiss (@MarinaPurkiss) June 9, 2023

Game on BREAKING:Boris Johnson facing fight for political future after Privileges Committee found he misled Parliament & recommended sanction of more than 10 daysThe sanction in the draft report would be enough to trigger a by-election in Johnson's Uxbridge & South Ruislip seat— Steven Swinford (@Steven_Swinford) June 9, 2023
That was quick. BREAK: Boris Johnson resigning as an MP. More to follow.— Joe Pike (@joepike) June 9, 2023 Wonder what odds you can get on him standing in Henley at the next election.
Just like Cameron, he scurries off like a coward rather than face the full consequences of his actions. Must be an Eton thing.
