It'll be pretty cool seeing Messi scoring a last minute free-kick with his team losing 2-0. Watching him walk around the park. Pretty cool stuff.
lmfao That is such a sad, sad proposition. Going absolutely nuts because Messi scored a goal in a losing game?? Against keepers like Schulte and others who aren't even at the level of some of the Academy kids at places like Barcelona or PSG?
only a matter of time before a player will seriously get hurt or lose an eye. i recall a game in our pomp in the late 2000s where Rio got hit right above the eye when celebrating. i believe it was a coin too. maybe it was anfield away? maybe someone else can remember or confirm this
Don't forget lasers in eyes as well. I've also heard stories of AA batteries and literal bags of urine thrown at the USMNT when playing in Mexico.
It’ll be interesting to see how Messi does in the MLS. For the first time in his career he won’t be surrounded by talent. Miami are trash.
Rumors that they're also looking at Alba and Suarez. Trying to bring back the avengers I guess [emoji6]
That price for Macallister is ridiculous. I don’t think he’s an amazing player, but he’s worth double that.
So jealous of the efficiency. The thing is Brighton is bit like Dortnund. Everybody there is on moderate contracts, they can't afford big contracts. So they settle for the release clause which will help Brighton find a new Mac Allister.
BBC says rising to £55m. Is it me but it always seems whenever we sign a player, the total amount is always talked about much more in the press unlike in the hidden details like this one?
Great signing and good price for both WC and EPL proven player. Also plugs a major hole in their midfield that was a big cause of their drop off last season. Liverpool will now be back up there in the mix next season. Whatever it continues to be clear that our competitors negotiate so very much better than we do. Plus execute early and decisively to let players and manager have a full pre-season. FO Murtough & Glazers.
They have signed two starting 11 players this calendar year to address their problems in their first team in Gakpo and Mac Allister (we made no permanent signings Jan). Look at our results start of the season without Casemiro, then see what a difference one starting CM made. Have a look at the form tables - last 10 games they are 2nd us 3rd. Last 6 games they are 2nd us 4th. Plenty of reasons to back up the assertion that they will be back in the top 4 mix next season.
I feel you. But our main targets can't get done before the window opens. Kim Min Jae's release clause doesn't kick in until July 1st. We're agreed personal terms with Mount but Chelsea are playing hardball on his fee. And Levy is looking to price Kane out of a move this summer and no doubt extend his contract mid-season. If we're still dragging our feet througout July, then there's a massive problem (again).
Understood - was just answering the point regarding Liverpool. Players return for pre-season in around 4 weeks and the EPL season starts August 12th - 9 weeks from now. Our first pre-season game is 12th July.. We know with Murtough & the Glazers there will be lots of noise such as the above. Early last summer we had agreed transfer terms for FdJ with RM and that came to nothing. Its not done until player terms agreed, club terms agreed and most importantly the Glazers have signed off. Other teams just execute. We will have to see how thing play out over the next few weeks.
This is why when I argue with friends about how much we spend on players, I point out, you cant compare us to others because they have competent management, we don't.
They need an entirely new midfield. Are Fabinho ans Henderson supposed to be the water carriers again? These two guys along with Trent were huge liabilities last season. Virigl is steadily declining. Ill wait to see the rest of their business.
Fabinho had a dip start of last season and their team suffered as a result (shows how important this position is - esp for pressing teams). His form returned though and he is still just 29 (Cas and Eriksen both 31). Plus missing Mane. Gakpo helped with that mid-season on and will be through some of the necessary transition ready for next season. Fair enough though - agree to disagree
For the first time in my adult life, I’m not really interested in watching the final. Might hit the pool with the kids instead. Just not appealing to me, sadly.
Good half by Inter, De Bruyne off injured already. Also, it's a CL final so Pep can't contain himself by tinkering with the team again by dropping Walker.
