Gio has scored 1 meaningful goal for the USMNT. He's not even up to Benny Feilhaber levels of USMNT achievement at this point.

We don't get to trade his Dortmund goal for USMNT points.

Both are role players at this point. Reyna still can't handle full games. Pulisic is a 1v1 specialist.

Gregg started his coaching career with the LA Galaxy, and then went to Hammarby because the LA Galaxy owners also own Hammarby. And then he got fired from his job in the Swedish second division. That was after Hammarby fans literally broke into the facilities to confront Gregg. The problem with Gregg was that he didn't know how to create a system that actually generates goals. Some things never change. Lucky for him, after his completely average MLS coaching days with no trophy led to the USMNT job based on nepotism, Reyna's goal and assist in the Nations League final got him his first trophy, and starting Turner in the Gold Cup after ignoring him for two years (lucky for Gregg that his incompetence meant Turner was at the Gold Cup instead of starting Nations League) got him his second.

You may not think it relevant that Gregg only stopped kicking his girlfriend because some passerby tackled him and she was able to get up and leave, but that doesn't mean it's not relevant.

    From the US Soccer report:

Mr.Berhalter pushed her to the ground and kicked her twice; Mr. Berhalter was tackled by a passerby, not known to either of the Berhalters; and Mrs. Berhalter got up and left.
I mean there's like a half dozen of you weirdos posting just in this thread just in the past day so clearly not Einstein

I sure do not think it's relevant to the way he coaches the USMNT at all.

I would maybe care about an incident that's over 30 years old for hiring purposes if he denied it or refused to apologize. It's not consistent with a functioning society that people be second class citizens for the rest of their lives for committing crimes, even ones far more serious than what Gregg did.

How is Gregg anywhere close to a "second class citizen" when he has literally never faced any consequences for his actions lol we have countless thousands of people who get wrongly convicted of crimes in the US and spend decades in prison, go support the Innocence Project instead of stanning for an abuser

You're the one who wants to make Gregg a second class citizen by holding a crime against him for life. You are making ridiculous statements about me out of ignorance and I won't be engaging you further about it.

I know about this on a professional level and there aren't lots of people in prison for misdemeanor level assaults. Most people in state prison have committed violent felony offenses.

Also, in what world do you live where the only "consequences" are imposed by the state? Grow up.

LOL, why are you roping me into this? I don't want to be BFFs with Berhalter or Reyna, which has nothing to do with me evaluating either as professionals.

For example, you could just believe Berhalter is a bad coach, without needing to convince everyone he's some kind of violent criminal.

There are some obvious questions with Gio that people do not want to admit, much less to address:

    1. Why are the Dortmund coaches copying Berhalter’s approach with Gio?
    2. Since Haaland left, Gio has struggled. Was his inclusion in the squad because it made Haaland happy?
    3. Speaking of Haaland…he and his peers have left Gio behind developmentally. Why?
    4. Gio’s World Cup was an absolute disaster. If I have an equivalent player (which there are), why do I bring a potential cancer to an important game?

Incredible new definition of "struggled"... Gio having the highest G+A/90 and xG+xA/90 in the Bundesliga this season!

You are always so focused on Gio and how bad he is, care to comment on say Pulisic McKennie Weah Musah Dest Aaronson etc. etc. and how they've performed for their clubs lately?

It’s easy to have a high ratio with an irrelevant, cherry-picked sample size.

We call those outliers in statistics and they get tossed because they’re meaningless.

I noticed that you haven’t wanted to touch the question as to why Dortmunds coaches are copying Berhalter’s use of Gio.

Since your standard is "Gio isn't developing at the same level as his Dortmund peers, Erling Haaland who went to Man City and is already the best striker ever in the Premier League, and Jude Belllingham who is moving to Real Madrid for a nine figure transfer", would you care to actually address the second part of my comment, about other USMNT players?

Increasing the font size so you don't miss it... thanks in advance for your expert analysis

Feel free to link or quote your response to that question written in another more appropriate thread if you're not just using the thread name technicality as some sort of out as if we're in a courtroom my man?
You do have access to the rest of the site, don't you, you're not barred from commenting on all players but Reyna my man?

I think he's very skilled and talented but is too often hurt and he's a big brat
Maybe he gets both issues straightened out soon.

    1. Because Gio had frequently been injured.
    2. Gio hadn't been frequently injured for much of Haaland's time at Dortmund.
    3. See 1.
    4. Reyna's issue was with Gregg. And the roots of the problem lie in the relationship that had existed between his parents and Gregg. That scenario won't play out with any other coach.

Gio is in the exact role at Dortmund that he was put in by Gregg.

In fact, it would be interesting for an intrepid soccer journalist to dig up whether or not Gregg and Dortmund came to the same conclusion on how to play Gio by mutual interest or by a common meeting of the minds.

In my opinion, Weah was a better player and probably still is a better choice as a wing player. There are many rational explanations that make more sense than “Gregg is a dum Meannie!!!1111@!!\1!!!”

Has Reyna been in some "competition" that the rest of the USMNT pool hasn't been in, over the last six months, that you consistently crap on him but don't comment on how any of the other US players are doing?

    1. Are you refering to Berhalter starting him in the Sep 22 window then taking him off before the end of the first half?

At this point it’s just going to be interesting to see who wins the war between pulisic and Reyna. Looking forward to the reynas reply to pulisic wanting Greg back.
