I wouldn’t say far from the worst cycle. Hes down there. His record at GW is bad. Only good year being 18 and 19 in the past 7 years. 59-73-19 record at GW. Everyone here is calling for Mollys head whose now at Ole Miss. Heres a coach who hasnt done much at GW due to resources and is now moving to a school with low resources in a smaller town? This chat is inconsistent. Calling Molly a bad hire. Yet allowing a losing coach to get a new hc gig.
UTM does not have low resources - they package very well - keep in mind Craig Roberts was conference champion at UTM the year he left and McNammara took over, so the UTM program has good history as well. You can have 5 losing seasons in a row and 1 winning season and get a job - the other way around is more difficult as most AD look only at the previous year. (Or there is a good connection with the coach they are hiring.) Going from Dixie state to Ole Miss is a different conversation then this hire - this is a like for like move. And I have said this before - success is also based on what the team is - finishing mid table with the Citadel for example is a greater achievement than winning the league with Florida Gulf Coast. Grander Webb had to have a JV team from what I hear so don’t blame him for leaving.
This is not a comment on who is a good hire and bad hire...are you really comparing Ole Miss to Martin? I would think that Ole Miss is hiring from a pool that would be untouchable/unthinkable for UTM to even consider.

Played against Varga’s teams over the years and they’ve always been solid with an identity of who they are. I don’t think this is a massive hire but as has been mentioned already it’s probably a solid move by UT Martin to get in a coach who will keep them competitive. Definitely a sideways move for him though.

Just because it's been talked about before, update this list now... Makes it four female coaches in men's programs in college soccer.
I agree. Julianne will be a very good coach at Denver. She has great soccer IQ and is already a good coach but is an even better person. Julianne is quite enmeshed in the soccer community and culture here in Chicago. I always kind of thought she would take over the Maroons' women's program in a few years. Amy Reifert has been coaching Chicago for 33 years now and I believe that she will be retiring soon. I'm not sure how much more Denver would pay but Julianne can probably use Denver as a springboard to even bigger jobs if she proves her mettle as a women's coach at the D1 level. Julianne is a loss for the Chicagoland soccer community but this is a great opportunity for her.
This did not age well. Saw Seton Hill job posted and word is it apparently took this school a year to find something that pinged in his background they didn't like and he's gone. Sisters of Charity did not do their homework. Wonder what the parents of the players he coached this year think about that?
Heard Utah Tech was down to two candidates. A candidate friend that applied said that UVU assistant coach, and Gonzaga assistant coach were top two and doing visits. Should be announced fairly soon.
I know nothing about the assistants, but those are two programs that have shown significant improvement over the last few years.
Gonzaga assistant was offered. She is deciding this week if she accepts or not. If she does will create a small trickle effect with a few programs for openings.
Some of the chatter out at the GA national event (which doesn’t seem to want to warm up) is that college of Charleston are getting some heat and have been told to make some significant improvements so that seat could be pretty toasty.

Ok - I will bite - why?? Surely getting a place like the Citadel (or any other university that is hampered by some element that is out of the norm) to get to a mid table finish is surely a greater coaching achievement. Even at the highest level - getting say Brentford to ninth place in Premier League is surely a greater coaching achievement than finishing fourth with a major club. So let us know why it is the “dumbest thing you have seen”… Lol. Probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read on this thread.[/QUOTE]
@CASLKING Because the original post didn't say finishing 4th, it said winning the league. It might be an amazing accomplishment for a poorly funded or supported program (not just the Citadel here, folks) to finish mid-table...and good on them for that, but is it really a greater achievement than winning the league?? IMHO, not a chance. From a league-only perspective (NCAA tournament aside), what are you supposed to do as a coach if winning the league isn't at the top of the pyramid?
Small trickle effect if she accepts it as her husband is a D1 assistant too at another nearby university and so he'd be bouncing too if she go's to stay together. Just had another D1 opening yesterday, Chicago State Head coach just resigned. So that'll be fun for them finding a new coach in 4 weeks time.
If the AC (GS) sticks around, this should be super easy, barely an inconvenience. Will actually be an upgrade as GS has prior HC experience. Now, whether GS is "qualified" to be a D1 HC is another discussion, but the resume comparison to AF isn't even close.
