I heard that the referee didn't whistle two penalties in Korea's favor before extra time. If that's really the case, not only is it unfair but it would surely have avoided extra time for Korea...

 

With the US out, it will be a bit of a tough call who to root for...my wife is Korean and my dad's side is Italian, but since we're hanging with the fam in Incheon, I'll be rooting hard for Korea. I've been impressed by Korea's attacking play and extremely strong and disciplined mentality defensively. I see this as a stalemate toss up...the winner will the team making one less mistake than the other. I'm going with Korea in PKs over Italy.

 

I saw one situation where players tugged on each other's shirt. The Korean stopped doing it, but the Nigerian didn't stop fully. No penalty was given. I guess it was fishy?

 

i'm so sick and tired of getting abused by refs in every FIFA and AFC tournaments.
What has KFA done for this?

I will be unable to watch either game since they are too late due to time zone difference, but I can pray for that outcome.

Garbage defending. Their danger man - 3 defenders just standing off w/o any urgency. And a loose ball to carelessly start it all. Just put your boot through the ball and get it out of danger.

yeah, it was the kid who plays in Portugal. He panicked and sent it to the moon. Altho, it was a diff ball to handle that was rising.

 

I’d like to see Bae try to iso Zanotti a little more. Zanotti finally got a yellow after an entire half of fouling Bae…he can’t handle him…now he’s on a yellow and really vulnerable to getting a red. Ref is letting Italy get away with murder….persistent infringement everywhere.

It seems like this team just does not know how to keep the possession..

 

yeah, ITA kept fouling Bae cuz they were petrified of him and cuz they were able to do it so long w/o a yellow pulled out. Ref too lenient but no surprise there. The possession doesn't matter for this group. Ironically they play Italian style team defending and countering with speed. Could have easily been 3-3 at FT. We had chances but unlike other games, we didn't take them today. If the Keeper was going to favour his right and rely that much on his wall, they should have taken a man off the wall to defend the far post.

They had a good run.

 

Not sure if they counter well when they cant even pass the ball forward fast. I was so pissed to see our players trying to dribble out of 2-3 Italian players pressing hard. Also #9 kept delaying our chance to counter.

But yes. They def had a good run, considering I expected 0 results from this team.

 

Absolutely agree. Italy could only rotate defenders fouling him. He was a menace to Italy...unstoppable.
I'm bummed Korea couldn't finish one of their golden opportunities. They played well...keeper made a massive save...the collective D was really solid. Just a bad deep turnover, which was ruthlessly punished...high level first time finish...just a gut punch finish on the free kick late in regulation. So typical Italy...they always seem to make just enough of the small number of critical plays to get through.
