I saw the replay on TV and I'm still not 100% sure what happened. And I'm not even buzzed like 15. I think what they said was elbow to the back of the head?
Good thing there's no VAR, because that penalty would've been called back. Incredibly weak. Rubin was already falling and the LA player had an arm around him that didn't seem to affect anything. At least that's all I saw on the replay at least. Unless there was something leading up to him falling
I saw Caceres kind of wrap up Rubin. Rubin may have been looking to go down, but sometimes you earn those. It looked soft, but even if VAR was there, I'm not sure they overturn it.
I had the wrong player, but the announcers are saying the player called with the foul had been warned a few times about his actions in the box.
Work decided to bug me during this, so it felt like every time I looked there was another goal that happened. Can't believe we almost sent it to extra time. We really don't like closing out games do we?
I hosted a dinner for area alums tonight. Checked the score at 2-0 and felt pretty good. 302 though? Yikes. But also, hooray! Methinks we'll have a new striker when next we play.
I know no one wants to hear it, but you know who played well this game? Rubio Rubin. Assisted on 2 goals and drew a pk.
So Rubin had two assists and earned the penalty? That's a good pair of games. EDIT: Ha! @JLaw, I was watching highlights and checking stats while you wrote your post.
If he finishes out the year averaging 2 goal contributions per game? Also, you alright? Your anger has kind of lost its humor.
Now that Messi is joining them it looks like Miami is going to be getting the LAG luxury treatment from the officials. The referee clearly refused to call an obvious penalty against them versus Birmingham.
Was driving home from a short RV trip and just checked into a place to see the last 15 minutes plus stoppage. We were up 3-0 and cruising until I checked in. Really started to blame myself after LA made it 2-3. Hope the draw goes well tomorrow and we can play the next match or 2 at home.
I kinda like this "4-4-2" because it gives us numbers in the midfield, which is effective when the team works hard to press as a unit, like it did in the first 60 minutes. LA barely saw the ball in the first 2/3 of the match - they were relentlessly hunted and dispossessed. That wasn't as true after the subs - in part because RSL was playing keep away - and also - I think - because Vanney actually did a weird tactical thing where he put everyone WIDE (watch, you'll see 5 on each left/right band), kinda abandoning the center, and he got numbers that way. Also, as the game went on, the RSL mids and backline tired, and LA just kept splitting us. The CBs held up but the poor outside backs and Kreilach were gassed. Our midfield subs did not shine on defense, sorry Jasper, Ojeda, and especially Chang. They got outworked. Viva Guatemala because WTF Rubin was clearly man of the match...again...with two assists and a PK "earned" and some solid pressure. He sent at least 4-5 good balls into the box. Honorable mention should go to Savarino (dancing), Silva (destroying) and Eneli (dispossessing). Eneli at outside back made me sad, because, esp with Ruiz, he had such a great midfield shift. LAG were just awful in the back. Aude (#3) was terrible, grabbed all day long, and just got destroyed by Savarino. His replacement Edwards (#44) was actually pretty effective, he gave Gomez fits and was dangerous coming forward. I didn't think Chicarito was hurt at first. I've seen him dive so many times in my life, I assumed he dove when nobody was around and simply had to own it, even if that meant a trip to the hospital. There was some really good energy for a Wednesday game, fun crowd, even the OMG REF screamers and the weirdo who drank like 17 dr peppers and kept going up the aisle. The visitors crap-capo bucket drum was annoying and tinny, however, kudos to LAG fans who showed and cheered and had spirit. I salute you. Time to jump on the bandwagon before we hit the post 17 times and lose 1-0 in the next one. The ghost of Will Johnson man...
The Rubio thing irks me because it’s 2 games and people want to forget he was shit for nearly an entire calendar year and stress, man. Stress
I doubt anyone is forgetting his struggles but when your forward corps is so bad you can go 2 years with out scoring and still get consistent time then 2 games is like an oasis of hope. Fingers crossed it continues. And the Arango thing goes through.
