I know a masochist like me will continue to watch this garbage, but what incentive do sane people have to watch this drivel the rest of the year. I know the first home game back from the boycott is going to be rocking but after that wears off, whats next? there is no transfer excitement to look forward to, or a new coach or DoF coming aboard, its just going through the motions because there is nothing better coming on the horizon. its sports depressing.
Vanney on Chicharito: Confirms that Hernandez has a right knee injury. Says they won't know much until the MRI. He'll travel back to LA with the team tonight. #LAGalaxy #MLS— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) June 8, 2023
Surprised we made it a contest. Guess I left too early, but we still ended the way we did. Sigh. EDIT: One good note, guess we found our PK taker.
I have some self directed anger - for permitting myself to get emotionally invested in this team. Other than Zlatans wonder goal, there has not been much payoff for a long time. And how many years ago was that?
Year’s been a wash since before they kicked a ball. Klein getting fired was likely going to be the only win we’d get. It looked like that was going to be end of the season. So Christmas came early. There was extra twist of the knife watching your season end the day yet another club shows the ambition your’s used to have, with a co-owner that only co-owns a team because of that ambition. Fire Vanney or don’t. Just make sure you get the organization sorted before you hire the next guy.
Yeah, watching this season just waiting for it to be done so we can reboot. Watching the league news get better. Sigh. But at least we got the big one. We need a good new FO. Please lord. I'm willing to wait for someone amazing.
that makes it even more sports depressing, I've been trying to put my finger on what bothers me about this club. I've been a Tottenham supporter long before MLS came into existence and been through all the downs and the little ups through the years and the team despite the misery never lost its soul, former players still talk of fondness for the club and the chuckle heads in charge keep trying to right the ship and it doesn't seem to work but the soul of the club is there. I think the Galaxy has lost its soul and its not the club that many of us have had fond memories of and we keep clinging to those memories, while we hope the soul of the club returns and I just don't see it coming back for quite a while, if ever.
you know the people that have lives and don't spend their free time on a message board, lamenting the plight of a club they have no control over
Brugman was useless on that play as well. He couldn’t receive the ball cleanly but made no effort to defend, then slowly jogged back and watched the goal happen. Looks like the result was affected by that bogus pk call. I’m sure Vanney will be complaining about it. We looked dreadful and the Costa goal was stunning and beautiful.
@TrickHog If you had any sense of mercy and decency in you, you'd end all of this by doing a forum wide ban of us users.
So I fell asleep at 3-0, (I’m in a far away time zone at moment) did we play better? Kinda worse to have the margin be decided by bullshit pk. Costa scored? No red card? Wow.
We played kinda better. The problem is that we are still pretty toothless in attack and our sustained offensive pressure on RSL required a bone-headed tackle from a RSL defender and an outside-the-box wonderstrike to produce any goals. We don't move quickly and vertically enough to get any easy opportunities.
We get a makeup pk and on his 100th try Costa finally puts his “cut left, shoot curling left footed blast” into the net rather than row zed. It also helped that RSL went into “defend a lead with passive play” mode which just ended up putting them under more pressure.
Well. It's a return to 2022 Vanney, which is an improvement over the dreadful 2023 version. Overall a 5-5 aggregate result from 2 legs played at RSL is not a disaster; no one would've pegged that score a couple weeks ago. But it's frustrating to see the same defensive mistakes.
Yeah - being .500 on the road isn't bad. The real question is what happens when we come back home. We've been atrocious at home. So how much of that was lack of crowd, Klein distractions, etc. Of course, the bigger worry is that the coaching and structure deficiencies of this team really have nothing to do with the crowd and all the "noise". But that they are both poor. So how much improvement can we realistically expect this season until the big changes happen? And if Chicharito is out for the rest of the year then we are in even worse shape than that...
Messi will bring so many more eyes to the league, and some, might even want to watch the famous Galaxy. Good god… who will stay?? I’m a diehard and these games have been hard to watch.
They can't even put RSL away after a nice break and time to come up with a strategy. They just beat them a week ago. But it's clear nothing was strategized of any importance which is the Vanney signature. The Vanney way. Just steady as she goes even in the face of sitting in last place in the league. The season is done. Galaxy is done. What silver lining fans see is just the rose tinted, frosted, glasses being put on so the mirage is much clearer and encouraging. Coaching staff and this bunch has the club dead last. Even if by some miracle we make playoffs.... what does this team have to offer? And now with no Chicharito? Please. About the only good thing is Dejan gets to start and I need to see this dude break that mold of super-sub or he can go somewhere else to try his luck too. We need players hat can perform not one-trick sideshow oddities. Hopefully they get the wheels turning on the new president. We can't wait until next year. somebody needs to get going on the rebuild and waiting for Mr. Perfect is not gonna work. There are no guarantees. Every potential president has to move the team up and forward. Put it in writing! Let's GO!
