Or was it just the NYC affiliate's local news doing a breaking update? Both events mentioned are local to NYC.
My affiliate in Columbus didn't break away today. I don't know about yesterday, as I didn't see the whole match. https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/cbs-tv-champions-league-donald-trump-broadcast/blt52a5e9c91d78d409 "CBS' sudden switch was surprising to many soccer fans who had not been following the case and were interested by the high-profile match. It is rare for a cable network to deviate from live sports broadcasts given how expensive it is to obtain broadcast rights - the Champions League cost CBS a reported $250 million - but matters of national importance do occasionally take precedence." 1) CBS is not a cable network, people! 2) In addition, would ESPN be a "cable network" considering any subscriber of DirecTV or Hulu can get it? I hate when the term "cable" refers to stuff it's not. This is why we have articles "How To Stream BigSportsGame Without Cable" that are nothing but glorified advertisements for Hulu, Fubo and YouTube TV.
CBS/Paramount's pitchside coverage at UCL this week was a fair bit of chaos and dysfunction. And I didn't even watch it all, but noticed: Abdo saying "FOX" instead of "CBS" (she got ultimate shit from her colleagues for that) Crew getting sprayed with the sprinkler, seconds before going live Carragher's earpieces not working so he couldn't hear any dialogue or questions in the noisy Bernabeu (AND they had no backups ready?) Henry leaving the desk, when Grealish came for interview immediately after FT... Thierry was more interested in hugging/chatting with his boy De Bruyne, plus Silva(?), et al. Yes it was a very exciting moment but an odd abandonment by the pundit I thought. I just wonder if any of the above bothered the CBS production team?
Related: June 27th is the relaunch date for the Paramount+ app. It seems prices are going up $2 or so, but IIRC, anyone who pay for the commercial-free version of Paramount+ will end up with the Showtime channels. I believe the stand-alone Showtime app is also going away. What this means for people who pay for Showtime via their TV provider is anyone's guess. (Without knowing all the details, I'd look at trying to cancel Showtime via your TV provider. I suspect a lot of people will end up paying for two Showtime accounts.) https://deadline.com/2023/05/paramount-with-showtime-confirms-rebrand-launch-date-1235376172/
There are two showtime apps Showtime for those that pay directly and Showtime Anytime for those that authenticate.
Yes, same here. Seems they still charged me the old $49.99/year a month ago when my auto-renewal kicked in.
For now. Let's see what happens on, or after, June 27th. I'll use myself as an example: If I upgrade my TV tier to get a specific channel or two, I automatically would get Showtime and I can't do anything about it. If I want Paramount+ for next season's UEFA CL, then it's my understanding that if I go commercial-free, I'd get Showtime in that package. I foresee a lot of customers "paying double" for Showtime across different platforms. The Showtime app is definitely being merged. Showtime Anytime, it seems, will stick around.
Just a post to complain about Golazo. I turned on the US Open Cup match between Chicago & Houston and they were running the score crawl at the bottom of the screen. Also, it doesn't appear that they are going to offer on-demand replays of the US Open Cup matches like they do with all the other competitions they cover. At the end of the day I don't really care that much since my interest in US domestic clubs is minimal. But I like a cup competition and having the crawl doesn't do the competition any favors as does not having on-demand replays.
What’s the deal with Golazo? It’s supposed to run 24/7 but when I open my app I get “video not available.” Supposedly there’s a show called Box 2 Box on right now but it’s not actually streaming, or I can access it. Do you have to set up a login or something? When i tried CBS SN in my app it had be authorize that I could watch it. Can’t find anything that looks like a replay of the morning show as well. oh well. Thx, Jay!
So I completely forgot I have TUDN because I usually only stream it so I was going to sync Talksport audio through my soundbar but it’s restricted. Went back to the CBS app and Golazo is streaming the UEFA Confrence League game (wasn’t expecting that, thought it was Par+ only). But I still can’t see it on the app. Open my laptop up and absolutely no problem with the video from a web browser. Thx, Jay!
I’ve got the clocks on the TUDN broadcast and Golazo stream synced pretty damn close. The stadium audio of kicks/whistles etc. you can hear pretty well are about 3/4 of a second behind. Thx, Jay!
So the Panama - Canada Nations League match is on CBS Sports Network. USA- Mexico is only available via streaming (in English). Does this make any sense to anyone?
As an FYI, it looks like all of the CONCACAF Nations League matches (including the third place match) are going to be broadcast OTA on Univision.
