Wrong person, when the usual suspects decided Benz was “ washed up” about 3 seasons ago IMO Benz still had far more to give I supported him playing till the end, when some were screaming for Alvaro, my opinion was Benz is the player that makes our attack work and without him it just isn’t the same, I appreciate the seniors and all players that contribute on the pitch for our team unless they are extremely lazy when we don’t have the ball, when all and sundry thought Benz had a crap game first leg vs City I actually he thought he did quite well but fluffed some chances, it happens

My stance on Benz has never changed and no matter what anyone says never will, sublime footballer with the ball at his feet, as a 9 I wanted more goals from him in the past not just link up play, had my full support and respect ( not that any of that matters in the grand scheme of things) once he took over the leadership of the team and the goal scoring once Ronaldo left, no matter how old he was, nothing anyone says changes any of those views that I’ve held re Benz consistently.

Edit: with regards to Toni and Luka you are correct of course, that’s reality, but there is some rabid anti Toni and Luka sentiment out there

Agreed...Carlo wasn't fair with him in the second half of the season. Maybe as a way to motivate him and push him.....but there was much worse form from others in the squad

Meh I don’t think anyone was unfair with Tchouameni. He wasn’t playing well. Overall I’m not too concerned, he was so exceptional in the first couple of months that I’m optimistic we’ll see that again next season.

This, I can’t think of a single manager who wouldn’t go with the tried and tested if a youngster was struggling somewhat in the demanding place that is Madrid, plus no one knows what was happening in training, we just think about games, he struggled after the WC but he’s young and will have lots of time to cement his place in our team starting next season

How trustworthy is this Pedulla dude?

“Today's meeting led to an agreement in principle, only a few details are missing. Kane to Real, we are very close to the definitive agreements.”

Carlo’s treatment of Tchouameni automatically got us knocked out of the CL, he had the pieces to give us a chance at another final. I mean Tchouameni almost won us the game in the first leg.

He needs to become a starter again ASAP.

I had never been a big fan of Kane’s but liked what I saw at the World Cup. Think he’s about as good as we can realistically do right. €100m is pretty steep though for a guy who can sign in January. Hope they can pull that down.

Except people who "complain" don't tell people who don't complain to complain, unlike the other way around.

I am always willing to debate issues and positions, but if we accept "shut up management knows better than you" as a legitimate counterargument to an elaborated opinion, pretty much nobody here should post anything here except news and tweets.

He’s the worlds best striker. Probably a bit biased but apart from Haaland, as a target man or someone who can lead the line, there’s no one near him.

Mbappe is a different type of player to those 2 so that’s why I didn’t compare him to them.

Thank god, he chose a proper club and not a Saudi club :(

But you repeatedly and redundantly talk about players management has never even heard of, as posible replacements.

"Why dont we go for Doku" well the most obvious answer is cause management arent interested in doku, so sure mentioning him once as an alternative is welcome, beating the drumb that management are blind for not going for osimeh and doku and instead going for kane and kai is just tiring.

Even if we dont bring mbappe, talking about mbappe on this thread is a lot more constructive than talking about osimeh, because the club actually has interest in mbappe.

    Two options really.

Does he leave for free to someone else in the PL or Europe or does he make a good return now to someone outside of the PL

I think he sells and we get Kane.

Yeah the issue is he knows we want/need the player. So the question to me is how long he drags it out to try and squeeze an extra €10-20m out of us. Assuming the reports are true that Kane likes the move, I think a deal gets done. Question is when and for how much.

For the CL registration (25 Players) Uefa rules are: 8 players who are from Spain, while 4 of them are home players (from the Academy).
UEFA considers that a player is formed in a club or country, respectively, when between the ages of 15 and 21 he has played for three seasons in that club or in clubs in that country.

Carvajal and Cabellos must stay. I’m not sure Brahim is included. Who much seasons he played in la liga?

Thing with Bellingham is he’s young enough the club can sell him for a record fee in 5 years or so if he projects to be the player some are expecting. Win-win.

HG: Carvajal, Nacho, Fran Garcia, Vini, Rodrygo
    Non-HG Spain: Ceballos, Josleu, Valverde

Valverde may be Spain but not HG because he played a year at Deportivo.
Vini/Rodrygo should be HG since they played at Madrid since 18 I believe.

Edit: If they buy Fresneda who is 18 and doesn't turn 19 until late September.... I believe he would be HG after 3 years.

Wouldn’t Joselu count as homegrown? Or did his 3 years in Castilla begin after he was 18?

Ahh gotcha, I knew he moved from Celta to Castilla at some point, but didn’t check and couldn’t recall his age at the time of the move. Thanks!
