Because the Brightline high speed rail isn't done yet? You want them to drive through Barstow on drugs?
Probably for the same reasons the LA Chargers fly to Vegas for games against the Rams. Sometimes professional sports teams take trains or even buses for short distance trips, but other times they still elect to fly to short distance destinations. If you are concerned about the effects on your players' legs and muscles from sitting in place for four hours, then you may elect to take the option that has your players sitting in a seat for a fraction of the time. While you cannot avoid that scenario when flying across the country, you can when flying from LA to LV. Plus, it's just a lot less time you are wasting on travel when you have a very regimented schedule for your team in terms of training, team meetings, meals, hotels, etc.
They're appeasing the Premier League players who are used to chartering flights for trips 100 miles away.
Sorry if this information has been posted above, but I just noticed that Mexico has scheduled two preparation matches: Tonight (June 7) Mexico v Guatemala (in Mexico) Saturday (June 10) Mexico v Cameroon (in San Diego) Thursday (June 15) our NL match v Mexico (in Las Vegas) All three games kick off at 10:00 PM (Eastern). Two games might be overdoing it, but one would seem to make sense. We shall see ...
Yeah... it makes a ton of sense to have one prep match. It isn't like our "A" Team is filled with players in great form for their clubs.
Nevermind... here it is. Twitter of course. Trophy on the line 🏆Your #CANMNT Roster for Concacaf Nations League Finals! 🇨🇦#CANMNT x @CIBC pic.twitter.com/LAEE16fCvd— Canada Soccer (@CanadaSoccerEN) June 7, 2023
Not surprised. Making a cap tying move at this point seems a bit premature. Hopefully, he's on our Gold Cup roster. Canada loves them some low level SPFL teams.
Reports out of Canada was that Herdman was offering Morris a spot at NL. Possible the late release of their roster had to do with trying to flip him. Then again Canada has always been kinda late with their roster drops. I expect Morris to be on the US’ GC roster.
Oh, I know. I'm just saying that I think it would be premature for Morris to file a one time switch, which I *think* he might have to do? I suspect he would prefer to play for the US, and Canada would be more of a PT play. Could be wrong, but either way, a final decision now is a bad idea.
Don’t believe he’d have to file a switch. The u20 WC and qualifying that he would’ve been a part of was canceled. Can’t find any info on the couple u20 games he did play but I’m assuming they were just friendlies.
Morris also has a path to our A team in that position if he plays well. Never thought twice about this. Would have been truly shocked if he was on their squad at this point.
For me, I don't think I've ever cared less about a result vs. Mex. We are in flux, new peeps coming up. A core that still, even after the WC has limited time playing together. No manager. We've had a lonnng string of success against them. Right now I'm much more interested in seeing how new and newish guys do, and how the team gels, than the result. A win gets the group another match. That's about all it means to me.
Have you ever made that drive? It's like a 4 1/2 hour drive in a bus, if everything goes right. But, things often don't go right. It's taken me over 6 hours to drive home from Vegas before, just due to traffic. Last time I drove the 15 through there, we were stopped on the road, people out of their cars chatting because of two accidents ahead of us. I want to know why you think they shouldn't fly.
I haven't seen the clip or heard audio, but Herdman said today that Morris' heart is with the U.S. I don't know if that's an exact quote, but that's the gist. And it makes perfect sense. If I were Morris I wouldn't do anything until the U.S. named a manager. But if he keeps playing the way he is, you would have to think he is in the mix for a squad place with the U.S. for 2026 and that should be good enough for him. He would be given an opportunity to lock down a starting role with Canada, I'm confident of that, but I fully expect him to play for the U.S. There were a few injury questions in the Canadian squad (Osorio and Johnston primarily, but Cornelius is now getting an MRI tomorrow), so I think that was the hold-up with the squad more than waiting for 11th hour change of heart from Aidan Morris.
If Adams was healthy, I don't think we would have played with a dedicated 6. I think we are moving away from it. The midfield lineup would have been Adams and one of McKennie or Musah.
Yeah, first two times I did the drive it was interesting but after that, I dreaded it. 6 HR drive not difficult at all to achieve.
I don’t think it is. You have Adams, McKennie, Aaronson, Pepi, LDLT, Busio, Tessmann, Bello, Green, Tim Tillman, EPB, and Sargent but I’m pretty sure that’s it. And of the 12 half of them don’t play for the national team that often (Busio, Bello, Green, Tillman, Tessmann, and EPB). Adams was injured for the key stretch and they probably stay up if he isn’t. McKennie didn’t do great but came into a bad situation with a team that was already flailing. Sargent came into a team that everyone knew was going down before he even got there. And Pepi did a very good job of scoring goals considering how bad his team was. It’s not 25 players, half of them aren’t national team regulars, and there are extenuating circumstances for a good number of the other half.
