    San José felling the visitors?

    Portland quelling the hosts?

The Earthquakes rumbling on? The Timbers rising upward?

    Discuss.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

We will win in our house. We need to beat them at THEIR house in September. If we can do that, I will personally kiss Luchi's ass...

    F*ck Portland

Just for some historical information, we've been playing bunker ball since 1996, and some how this seems to be a re-occurring trend Infront of the goal with frantic play and heart stopping shit.

That Clash jersey is the best jersey ever made in MLS. It's so ass ugly, its the best ever.

Portland are removing traffic lanes on some of their roads and making them bike lanes, but who wants to ride a bike when it’s raining? So traffic is insane because there is less room and more cars. They have snow ploughs, but are too damned cheap to use them. And who wants to ride their bike when there’s snow and ice on the street?!

I don’t blame them for their homeless problems. That’s a national level problem and no one city, county, or even state can do much about it.

But I do blame them for getting rid of parking garages and lots and making traffic a freaking nightmare.

    But the brewpubs are nice!

    F*ck Portland!!
    Go Quakesfans!!

There are brewpubs and restaurants within walking distance of my place, so f*ck Portland!

Yeah, I like the microbreweries. And the doughnuts. The Oregon history museum. . . . and the aqueduct. But otherwise, f*ck Portland! :)

There are nice places, if you’re rich. A couple of the burbs are cool. But if you don’t live downtown, it’s a pain in the ass. And I hate that their team nearly always beat us. F*ck the ForestKillers!!

We have been to Portland several times to visit our friend and to attend SJ away games. I like the Hood River/Columbia Gorge area but not Portland itself. The coastal area is nice too. Portland may be the west coast major city I dislike the most. I like San Diego, Vancouver BC, Seattle and OK with SF, SJ and even LA. For whatever reason, Portland just doesn't work for me. And their fans are arrogant.

Now that our friend has found a new job in the Bay Area and moved here, we have only one reason left to visit Portland and that is to support the Quakes when we play there.

Portland is not a bad team this year, even though their record is mediocre, and they are now only 6 points behind us. They beat up Seattle badly at their home and played them even in Seattle. Last night they beat Dallas fairly handily though it ended 1-0 (lots of great saves by Dallas keeper
    Maarten "Paws").

On the + side of Portland beating Dallas, we are now 4th in the west on PPG and just a 0.03 PPG behind the 3rd team, Seattle.

Portland has one of the best farmers' markets I've ever seen, and some primo yarn stores, but probably most soccer fans don't notice those.

I am surprised no one has mentioned that Portland also has an excellent music scene, particularly is you tastes run to rock, new wave, punk, etc.

Portland is cool. My mom grew up there, and growing up, our summer vacation was driving from the Bay Area to Portland to visit my grandparents. As an adult, we usually only spend a night passing through, but always have good time. Unfortunately, our schedule has never permitted us to make it up to watch a game. Some day!

Quakes luck runs out. 1-1 tie.

There’s a lot to like about Portland, including the yarn stores, the guitar stores, the restaurants, and more. But their failure to plough the snow off their streets is downright dangerous.

I don’t live there, so most of the time I have to drive. If I could take the bus or the train, or even both, that works great. But there are lots of places I want to go that I have to drive. I spent ten minutes looking for a parking space on Saturday, which burns a lot of gas and defeats the purpose of trying to get people out of their cars.

The city is becoming less fun by the month.

But I still like Portland much better than Shittle!
And their fans are better than Shittle fans.

    Go Quakesfans!!

Portland's average snowfall per year is only 4.3". Maybe they had a snowfall this past year that was more than usual, but, I really doubt there are many days of unplowed streets.

Yes, the music scene is good. But, there are venues that have no parking, and street parking nearby is restricted.

Portland used to be “the city that works.” But they’ve gone way too far trying to get people out of their cars, which again, only works for people who live in the city. If you live outside, it blows chunks.

And I saw Gary Numan in Portland a few weeks ago, at a venue with parking!

That average is out of date. We’re getting more snow every winter. It used to only snow once every three years or so. Now it’s multiple times every year. And it’s usually cold enough to keep the snow on the ground for several days. If you don’t plough, the cars and feet crush the snow down and with over night lows it turns into ice. I’ve been to Portland a week after the snow was all cleared off the streets of Vancouver, only to find an inch thick or more of ice on their shitty streets.

Trust me on this, it’s a problem. They don’t actually use their snow ploughs anymore. And there are hills in town, so cars and trucks and people slide all over the place. It’s crap.

    And their police suck!!

But the Columbia River Gorge is great!!

    Go Quakesfans!!
