Interesting stuff. I hiked Mt. Whitney a few years back and did it in a single day using the approach that less time is better than trying to do it in two days or more by camping along the way, but always figured that if I had more than a small amount of time, it would have made sense to stay at Whitney portal (around 8,000 feet) for a week or so before hand it would have been easier. At least that has been my experience with high altitude hiking. But then again I’m not a professional soccer player so I guess it’s different.
Meanwhile, LeBron uses a hyperbaric tent at sea level in conjunction with a pure oxygen atmosphere to promote healing, decrease recovery time and improve performance. He reportedly also has a hyperbaric bed at home.
I hiked Mt Whitney in a day. Felt fine going up and then got a bad case of altitude sickness on the way down. Felt so bad I told my wife and friends to go on down without me because I was just going to lay down and die. It was horrible but passed in 2 or 3 hours.
Vanney says that the break and rest got a couple of guys back in full training. Costa, Mavinga, Cuevas back in training. #LAGalaxy #MLS— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) June 5, 2023
Biggest game of the season so far for the Galaxy tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in the USOC quarterfinals: 9:30 pm ET/6:30 pm PT - Real Salt Lake vs. LA Galaxy - B/R App and B/R Football YouTube
Well pure oxygen atmospheres, albeit at a low air pressure, were used in the USA's space capsules until the Apollo 1 fire and some of those missions lasted almost 2 weeks. "Later Apollo flights used a mixture of 60 percent oxygen and 40 percent nitrogen at 16 psi on the launch pad, then switched to pure oxygen at only 5 psi in space. This proved to be much safer. The Skylab space station also had a pure oxygen atmosphere at 5 psi."
Preemptively using 800 mg doses of Ibuprofen before beginning and every 5-6 hours during the hike seems to help a lot with swelling and other symptoms of altitude sickness other than nausea due to its effects in reducing inflammation. When I still played competitive soccer up until my mid-30s I also found the same dose before matches also significantly reduced the feel that my body was falling apart several hours after the games.
It was the most painful headache and worst nausea I’ve ever experienced. Worse than the miserable times I’ve spent hunched over the porcelain god after drinking too much. But like I mentioned it completely went away after about three hours.
We could face Messi in the final. Wouldn't that be crazy? Who ya got? 🏆@opencup returns tonight. #USOC2023 pic.twitter.com/qXskgaAzxt— Major League Soccer (@MLS) June 6, 2023
when are the future dates? from what I'm reading he wont be available till August and by looking at the schedule, he will play LAFC at BMO September 3, and nothing for the galaxy, as seems the tradition now of the galaxy missing all the good stuff
Miami is NOT getting past Cincy. Neither will we most likely, should we get there. Yeah, with Galaxy it's a different level we ply the trade at nowadays. Took us ten year to find ourselves dead last in the league mid-season and Its going to take years to build back up to a high competitive level. Hell, we still playing Vanney-ball ffs. All we can do now is reminisce.
I wonder how many fans would boycott the chance to see Messi at the Diggity if Klein wasn't let go and the boycott was still on.
I would gladly sell my "see Messi" pair of tickets and recoup my entire Galaxy expenses for the entire season.
I would probably buy them from you. I am not missing Messi at the Digz. Sit next to Klein if I had to .

I am so jealous Becks pulled off Messi. Dangitt why couldn't his old contract have had him partly own the Galaxy lol. Oh well.
Other than Klinsmann and Vivi (Memo apparently out with a leg injury), this is a first choice lineup. Costa on the bench for the first time in awhile Our #USOC2023 XI at RSL 👊📰: https://t.co/FJW0GGQtzW#LAGalaxy x @ModeloUSA pic.twitter.com/eTUZsnO1BL— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) June 8, 2023
