Not sure about that…I have some vague memory of a smoking trash dump outside of Jerusalem inspiring Hell. Ancient hebrews weren’t Europeans.
When we do it, it’s not called indoctrination. It’s called evangelism.
As you can see above, I’ve conceded the point that everyone is the same and it’s silly to make distinctions between different situations no matter how much the Deep State tries to tell us that 6 year olds are different from 16 year olds. You win. Congrats!

My answer to this stuff is often what are we doing about the needs of America's Pacific islander community. If people ask what does it have to do with anything just remember they're more Pacific Islanders in the US than the are transgenders so why do we care so much.

Is this you, taking a victory lap? o_O

I guess you didn't bother to read the post where I answered your questions and provided a resource for you to begin actually learning about transgender care instead of catastrophizing!

I can still remember the first time we told my son about the existence of homosexuality, can’t remember how old he was but I would guess early elementary school. His initial reaction was basically “whoa, weird,” like you might react to anything you hadn’t heard about before that broadened your reality. And after that he just saw it as a fact of life (probably helped that my niece entered into a relationship with a woman around that time, who she’s still married to years later).

And of course sex didn’t come up because he had no idea what that was in the first place at that age.

Although we have a gas stove I think banning them is a great idea. We'll need all the gas to generate electricity for all the cars and appliances.

That's an absolute cop-out, which I fully expected from you because it is what you typically do.

The point is these Republican laws about "parent-rights" are the ones insisting all parents are the same, all children are the same, etc. They are the ones treating LGBT+ kids as if they are no different than straight cis kids.

These laws are completely and entirely dismissive of what is best for the children, and especially what is best for LGBT+ children. LGBT+ kids with liberal parents have a good chance of being able to get through childhood with minimal harm. LGBT+ kids with extremely religious / conservative parents are in great danger - literally and physically - as the suicide rates indicate.

But you seem indifferent to those kids and care only about the parents, especially religious parents, and how the parents can best impose their beliefs onto their children, even if it harms the children.

These laws give the children no safe outlet to talk about their issues all because conservative parents want to control their LGBT+ children. These laws literally take away choice from liberal parents who don't feel qualified in helping their kids with some of these issues.

The turn of the century term was "Boston marriage." Though I think that may have been a ladies only kind of thing.

To a Christian, you say it is evangelism.
To a Buddhist, it is daily routine which is performed in our schools. And this is the part which is so frustration when trying to discuss this with you. You have an inability to understand that there are normal, every day people, who are not Christian, and do not subscribe the the Christian way of life. To us, seeing a sign like "Jesus loves you" is indoctrination. You, I suspect, would disagree.

Further, the off handed comments about going to heaven or a higher place or something like that, is a fundamentally different view of life than we Buddhists have. While there is diction to treat people with respect and honor and that should lead us to a "greater" place, that I believe my soul will move to somebody else, and you believe your soul will go to heaven or hell, is a fundamental difference in how we view life. And I see and hear that difference every single day. And to my ears, it is indoctrination.

Now, I will separate out the difference between the development of casual, societal language which indoctrinates, and intentional language which indoctrinates. But if one is not aware that casual, societal language indoctrinates, then that leads to a problem versus those who don't believe what is being indoctrinated.

My brother-in-law's daughter is HS junior and after a boyfriend is now dating a girl. My BiL is like awesome, I don't have to worry about her getting pregnant now. I told my wife that night, I wanted to yell at him, "tell me you are not familiar with lesbian breakups without telling me!"

One of the things I like about the show Mad Men is how it tries to get the time period, down to the words. One of the characters has a sister and he asks her how her "companion" is.

Granted, most of the phrases I heard from my grandparents and great-grandparents of that era were more blue collar and not white collar.

Related to our conversation here today, the HRC issued a "state of emergency" for LGBT+ people. The line that jumped out at me was the following:

"Won't somebody please think of the children" is always their wedge for attacking LGBT+ more broadly. Always. And it's never actually about the children.

Unfortunately, otherwise reasonable minded people are gullible enough to fall for it on a regular basis.

Aren't they protecting electric stoves since the vote failed? Your point still stands though.
