If I got paid 400 million, I'd give everyone on this earthquakes board who post daily with me a million bucks.
I would imagine it would be a world with the most ridiculously out of control hyperinflation, like the Weimar Republic in Germany after World War 1, where a loaf of bread went from 160 marks at the end of 1922 to 200,000,000,000 marks a year later.
If Messi wants to own one of the 50 most valuable soccer teams in the world, coming to MLS would give him a pretty good chance of one day achieving that dream In the 50 most valuable soccer clubs in the world: 1️⃣ @ManUtd is 145 years old3️⃣@FCBarcelona is 124 years old2️⃣@realmadrid is 121 years old1️⃣6️⃣@LAFC is six years oldFull rationale and numbers: https://t.co/yVfyVtrf2O pic.twitter.com/ojsYryvJuW— Sportico (@Sportico) May 3, 2023
Interesting that LAFC, LAG, Atlanta have 100m revenue. The next closest is Seattle at 66m. NYRB is last on this list with 50m revenue. So the top 3 MLS teams are making considerably more than the rest of the league. The valuations haven't changed since the last time it was reported.
Looks like its a done deal Lionel Messi to MIami https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomsan...-to-join-inter-miami-reports/?sh=199dd9751f1c
sounds like it's not done yet but the decision could come soon... The deal MLS is putting together to lure Leo Messi is truly unprecedented.✅ Profit sharing with Apple✅ Adidas offering up a cut as well✅ “(MLS) has gotten very creative.”➕ more news on Tata Martino’s link to Miami.w/ @FelipeCar & @MLSist: https://t.co/MNxjUldi9O— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) June 7, 2023
I'm starting to warm up to the Messi signing and it would be cool for a while but too bad he will be 36 years of age by the time he comes. The only current setback I see with the Messi to Miami deal is that they are playing in DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale with a capacity of only 18,000. They should be playing in 64k seat Hard Rock Stadium in Miami as they would surely sell out at least until the novelty of his signing wears off.
If he does wind up at Miami, they'd better have a strong or at least good supporting cast around him, something he's always had in both his club and nats career. Pirlo didn’t have a great run in MLS but it would have been even worse if he didn’t have David Villa to pass to.
It's the same old story in MLS but any league that adding one superstar on a team doesn't turn you into a winner. Losing Higuain was a huge setback. Even though he would have been 35 this season, he was a great goal scorer and that is what is missing this year from their team. I don't think anyone has or can replace him.
So you're saying that losing 35-year old Higuain was a huge setback, turning a pretty good Miami team into a bad team, but adding 35-year old Lionel Messi (effectively Messi for Higuain) won't help, given roughly the same supporting cast?
Not at all. I'm saying losing Higuain was a huge setback to their current roster this season as he scored a lot of goals for them. Not having him in the team from the beginning of the season has clearly hindered their team. It remains to be seen what Messi will do when he gets there for only half of a season when they are already crap. As for going to Miami, I read Messi is going to get Apple Stocks for coming to the league. I think in the long run, it may be better than CR7 going to the Saudi Arabian pro league.
Yeah, my point is that if they had a big drop-off losing Higuain, things should pick up when they add Messi to roughly the same team, Messi still being one of the best players in the world. Playoffs maybe still unlikely - they've dug themselves into a bit of a hole, but they should be improved. I don't know how soon he will join.
