agree ... it is time to consider the value of spreading ones wagers across multiple players and teams.
Fabrizio Romano reporting AC Milan interest in Pulisic. Fabrizio Romano on Twitter: "Christian Pulisic, expected to leave this summer as Chelsea are open to let him go #CFC AC Milan are among clubs interested in Pulisic, as @MatteMoretto reports — he was mentioned in recent talks held with Chelsea. Talks for Loftus Cheek in stand-by after Maldini’s sack. https://t.co/2IdYn4WX3s" / Twitter
Fulham makes too much sense to me. Khan’s connection to American sports, London club, history of Americans on the team, Michael Jackson statue. Considering 80% of rumors are nonsense, how’s it NOT a rumor?
Not really. AC was interested last year and now have renewed interest this year. The renewed is news.
Where has Pulisic played his best? In league matches or in the Champions League? Aside from last year's two matches vs. Real Madrid, where he was pretty flat, he generally is outstanding in CL matches. I'd rather see him platoon on a top team that will be in the CL.
Everybody acts like Pulisic has a list of non-negotiables. He doesn’t have the leverage. He hasn’t played well enough to demand Europe and to demand the same salary that he has now.
This article in the Athletic says Newcastle has already informed Chelsea they’re not interested in Pulisic. It sounds like a weak market for him. I hope he can find a good opportunity. https://theathletic.com/4584909/2023/06/07/pulisic-chelsea-usmnt-transfer/?source=emp_shared_article
The biggest irony for me in the Chelsea saga is Kai Havertz who I have been reliably informed wouldn't start for most Championship sides, being sought by Real.
There are reports that Real Madrid has backed away from Havertz after learning of Chelsea’s asking price for him, but it sounds like they could still be interested if Chelsea lowers the price.
If clubs like NUFC are actually making offers, and if CP's transfer price is really as low as 20 mill, I don't think he'll have a ton of trouble coming close to his reported salary. Getting "guaranteed" Europe is another issue - the clubs that have a near-guarantee of going to Europe, and can afford CP, and are in a league CP wants to play, have their pick of players. But for clubs on the fringe of Europe and/or those that crapped out and need to do better, CP is a pretty decent gamble. I mean, Kante at 86 mill or even 175 mill, Zaha also supposed to get silly money from KSA, Chelsea in for Neymar, MacAllister at least 35 mill and maybe up to 60, Qatar offer for ManU... Amrabat, Mount, Havaritz... 40 mill for Levi Colwil??? (And someone paid 30 mill for Brenden Aaronson!) There's so much silly money still out there, that if you can really get CP for 20 mill, you can still pay him a few bucks and feel like you got a deal.
We'll see how it goes, with some luck I think he can land at another top champions league caliber club. He may not be a priority so it will depend on how the other dominoes fall. If nothing solid materializes the Europa league type clubs and mid-table EPL clubs will start to sniff around. He's not someone a top team is going to build around but I still think he can be a solid attacking option for a top club. At least he had a pretty strong world cup.
I don't think NUFC is making any offers for Pulisic at this point. At least the Athletic article I linked above said they've told Chelsea they're not interested in him.
I read somewhere they had the least continuity of any major team. One of the biggest reasons for their problems. I mean they were like a top for team i the world in salary but finished in the middle? If I was a team looking at Chelsea history and how their undervalued players became superstars after they left I would be intrigued about Pulisic.
AC Milan sounds promising but there’s risk of him being a starter. Seria A being a less physical league would be helpful though and AC Milan priorities speed on the wings. Napoli also feels like a risk like AC Milan unless 1-2 of their wingers are getting sold. There’s Lozano who had an injury spell and didn’t have a lot of production but caused a lot of chaos. There’s Kvarat whose 22 who played on the left wing which seems to be Pulisic’s preferred position. Kvarat had 12 goals and 10 assists over 34 league games this past season.
