The Athletic's report says it's a minority investment, but that it, "... is likely to lead to significant change at boardroom level if completed..." - https://theathletic.com/4530968/2023/05/22/everton-msp-sports-capital/
From Bloomberg: Todd Boehly Steps Back at Chelsea After Worst Season in 29 Years lol. Turns out that being an "interim sporting director" is hard... who knew? Time to spend more time in the owner's box and less time in the back rooms.
perhaps Boehly's first instinct was to jump right in ... when he should have sat back for a while and carefully watched and learned. At least Foley realized that England is just not the same as the US and to be more measured at the start. Better late than never for Todd. Especially if he does not want to be the next Dan Snyder. He ought to get a haircut also ... the pictures make him look like he wants to compete with Trey Gowdy.
Chelsea is the current example of treating a club like a fantasy team do not work. Throwing money at a problem is not always the best solution.
The structure of the sale led to the spending spree that unsettled the roster and is a major reason for the mess they are currently in. He was required to pump loads of additional cash into the club as a condition of the sale. He did so by acquiring assets. He would have loved a trophy this season. But the more important thing was for him to spend the required amount on players he could flip at a later date for a decent return. He was literally looking to buy any valuable young player who was willing to come to Chelsea and it did not matter whether they were going to improve the team on the field or in the locker room. People viewing the shopping spree through the lens of a football manager need to look at it through the lens of a an equity fund manager. Then they will realize that this season wasn't nearly as bad for Boehly as you might otherwise believe.
I would argue that these are equally bad lenses to view the sport through. But it does help to explain some of the more "rash" actions he's taken this season.
and now on top of the acquisition of all these current players and the turbulence, wage cuts have resulted (the 70-75K average/week now across CFC) ... that certainly sends a clear message to the entire roster. At least with Moneyball - over the key period of progress in Oakland - they did not go through 3 managers. It is one thing to collect as many good players as possible to stack your roster for the long term, but when these quality players see managers circulate through the front and rear door every 6 - 18 months, and your wages are cut, limited playing time available , and you have missed out on Champions League (limits future playing time) etc. it really makes it apparent why the squad is such a dumpster fire. Who wants to stick around for that Todd? That seems pretty darn transactional to me. As I have said more than a few times - Foley just did not drive this crazy train at Bournemouth when he bought them.
The Kaminski Group, owners of Burnley, are the odds on favorite to purchase Belgian team - KV Kortrijk. It looks like it will be a 15 million Euro price tag. The first order of business will be a new manager. I would assume if this sale goes through, lots of on loan players from Burnley will see playing time in Belgium. I will update the master list once the sale is finalized.
Radrizzani has finalized an agreement to buy Sampdoria. Nothing in the press release mentions his ownership of Leeds, but Phil Hay seems to believe that this is a sign that 49'ers Enterprises will be completing the purchase of LUFC. More to come on who is in control of Leeds, but for now we can update the list of clubs in Seire B to include Sampdoria.

Whoops! I think @RobtheAggie got it backwards: Radrizzani bought Sampdoria and 49'ers Enterprises are likely buying LUFC in the coming weeks (but this hasn't been technically completed).
There is an article suggesting that Radrizzano put up Elland Road (LUFC’s stadium) as collateral to get a loan to complete this purchase. Interesting stuff. https://theathletic.com/4568028/2023/06/01/leeds-elland-road-sampdoria-radrizzani/

In the Press release for the new USL 1 team in Brooklyn, the North Sixth Group who will be the owners of Brooklyn Football Club has an ownership of an additional club in Italy, Campobasso FC in Serie D. I wonder how much a Serie D club costs. I was also remembering a thread from years ago in the YA forum, not as famous as the Yank kid at Torino, but this one titled An American in Nepal and Nepal Football Club investment discussion. If is a fun little read.
