That is now 3G/2A in 237 minutes across all comps. And his goal contributions have been pretty timely.
All this talk of Uruguay dominating us and taking them "to school". I thought they had one big chance where Che got beat and we had a big chance blocked by Pukstas. We had a great early chance too. Most of the game was played in the midfield and both teams were solid defensively. I think both teams struggled to unlock the opposing defense due to the field condition (the closeup shots were revealing...). It was an ugly game given the talent on display and could really have gone either way before the horrendous own goal. Moments like that can be game deciders but say very little about the team performance.
My main problem with the performance is that it was another chance to beat a team that is rated higher than us... and they were banged up to boot. But we never seem to be able to get over the hump. US development has come a long way but we are clearly still a 2nd rate soccer nation.
Daily Fail so skepticism is warranted Per @DailyMailUK, Chicago Fire midfielder/winger Brian Gutierrez has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Girona. The 19-year-old American has appeared 74 times for Chicago’s first team since 2020, with 2 goals and 13 assists. pic.twitter.com/JYBUAOJ0fD— MLS NETWORK (@mlsnetwork) June 5, 2023 Edit: U-20s to the Netherlands? interesting comment... FC Dallas stopped doing this bc the kids come back with their heads turned and they no longer want to be with FCD. Bayern ends up with the pick of the litter and if you don’t sell at the price they offer, they move on, caring less about the damage they did on players’ mindset. https://t.co/dphxGuxh6K— Kranks (@dis_possessed) June 5, 2023
I remember some FCD loanees raving about Bayern's practice uniforms. FC Dallas had too many kids getting Euro fever too soon.
Their depth beat our depth. The progress that I see is that 10 years ago, their depth would have beat our A-team. In addition, only a few players from our A-team of 10 years ago would be receiving serious looks from overseas. Now even our B-players are being considered. As you say, we are still a level or two below the top teams but I don't think there is any doubt that we are improving. Our A teams, imo, are closing the gap faster than our B-teams, that is a symptom of us being a developing soccer nation rathe than a mature soccer nation.
It seems you’re saying we went toe to toe with a team playing with ten men entire game like it’s a good thing
Uruguay did not play down a man the entire game? What are you talking about? I'm talking about the U20 match from yesterday.
I'm getting Hunter S Thompson vibes. Stay away from guns and keep your tires inflated per the manufacturer's suggestion.
When one U20 cycle ends, another begins. And this one has the potential to be even more loaded. But its always a question of who's available in the end. [And of course, new talent will emerge.] What does the next U20 cycle look like? Get to know them now because they are likely going to get going as soon as this fall.https://t.co/BJH7AEOzXW— Marcus Chairez (@chai_asc) June 5, 2023

Filling in as a 6 for IMCF, but he is a CB with a ceiling. 2x ACL injuries set his timeline back. If he didn't have those injuries, probably a player we are all excited about right now. https://t.co/9wO1WHGRCB— Marcus Chairez (@chai_asc) June 7, 2023 ⚽️ Passable size, but needs to get a little stronger⚽️ Very mobile/fluid, recovered well from knee injury⚽️ Very comfortable on the ball, good passing technique— Marcus Chairez (@chai_asc) June 7, 2023

I wasn't the most impressed with him at the U20 World Cup but he was also playing up a cycle and I think it was an adjustment from what he sees in USL. Benefica obviously see some promise in him to pay a fee to get him. I think the thing is that there academy is filled with prospects like Wynder or better so open question as to whether he makes it. But if he does it'll mean he's become a very good player.
