Bury the losing streak! Reading this "Kaval's Kickoff" it strikes me that he actually had the lizard part of his brain pretty well in check at this time. He comes off pretty human here, and even apologizes for the Zura fiasco. Unfortunately, the Kaval's Kickoffs didn't last and became more sporadic as the realities of the difficulty in maintaining a winning team and doing business in MLS kicked in. https://www.sjearthquakes.com/news/kavals-kickoff-time-bury-winless-streak

Luchi Gonzalez confirms the Quakes are in the market to add pieces during the secondary transfer window."As that transfer window approaches, we’re considering and analyzing things."We’ll be decisive when we need to. In the meantime, it’s next man up."— Alex Morgan (@quakes_talk) June 8, 2023
Not a big surprise. I don’t think there’s any team in MLS that’s not looking to do anything in the transfer window. I still don’t believe they have much ammo to make a big signing, though trades and transfers could change that.
Short, but not a bad article from the SJ Mercury News! Maybe they remembered that we have an MLS team after the Messi signing has been in the news. Luchi - here caught reading my recent posts about process over results. But Gonzalez is focused on the process more than the results for now. “I think we have a great group in terms of getting over yesterday and fighting for tomorrow,” Gonzalez said.
The forecast site FiveThirtyEight has the Quakes at 85% to make the playoffs. Obviously it’s really early but they track a lot of metrics like strength of schedule. It’s kind of fun to check out the preseason predictions for the Quakes right now. Sporting News had us at 27th https://www.sportingnews.com/us/amp...e-soccer-golden-boot/eefbyyptcje1jbtrdh3kpagt USA Today had multiple experts pick the playoff teams and only one had us sneaking in on the final spot. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...eams-mvp-golden-boot-predictions/11309274002/
Yeah, the pundits, generally don't dive too deep on the Quakes after our crap seasons...they just rubber stamp it Fail for the upcoming season... just laziness. They should have done a little work and given some credence to the change in coaching and tactics...and potential for a bump from some new additions

Too early for me, to do any dunking. I am very wary of the soccer gods. We are only 6 points (or an Espinoza injury - knock on wood) from missing the playoffs.
Well that's the thing, margins are small in either direction. I'm happy with where we're at now, but we're an Espinoza injury or a bad run of form from being around the playoff line. Next few games we'll be missing 4 key starters also - Gruezo, Monteiro, Akapo, and Trauco.
Sure, it can go either way. And that's my point - it can down as well as up. That's why I'm not so into spiking the football with 1/2 of the season left.
How many were there? Couldn’t have been many. Now he can do a “bury the Oakland A’s franchise” ceremony.
With great collabs come great soccer jerseys. Keep an eye out for the limited edition adidas x Marvel x Quakes drops throughout the summer. pic.twitter.com/Q2XdlfSa79— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) June 21, 2023 GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I’m old enough to remember a time when Hollywood still put out original, non-formulaic content. Shocking, I know.
You don't have to go back any farther than 1999 when the list included movies like American Beauty, Magnolia, Office Space, Red Violin, Blair Witch, Eyes Wide Shut, and so many more. The industry has been going steadily downhill since then.
Isn't it a little like the music industry though? The mainstream pop stuff is ridiculously formulaic and gets worse every day but seems like there are more opportunities for indie productions, given the ease of creation (tools) and distribution via internet / social media, etc. Anyway, I don't pay attention to mainstream domestic film. I've been going thru a lot of foreign film stuff from the last 60-70 years to now.
