Having the red adidas three stripes over the shoulders is bad enough, but did they also have to add them to the side? And the broad red stripe not continuing over the shoulders to the back (although this is more of a quibble). I was looking at a history of the kits that adidas has made for Ajax and the early years (2001-2008) were actually quite nice - mostly because they didn't have the three stripes on the shoulders. Downhill from there, though. To each their own, I suppose...
they have no control over the three stripes and Adidas logo. It's the same problem that every team sponsored by Adidas faces. Aididas pay the most money of all the kit suppliers which is why they get to dictate where the stripes are and are not.
Totally understand that - just think it's really ugly, that's all. And Adidas didn't include the shoulder stripes for the first several years of the sponsorship.
They change it all the time. Two years ago when they issued the "classic shirt", the stripes were light silver rather than white. I don't know why Adidas can't be content with just their logo on the shirt.
Man, they are Germans. Aesthetics is not their strong point. If you want eye pleasing kit, order it to Italians.
https://www.ajaxinside.nl/rob-jansen-het-complete-voetbalhart-is-uit-ajax-gesneden/ Rob Jansen, who was involved in Johan's velvet revolution, complains the complete football heart has been cut out of Ajax. He thinks Ajax is playing a dangerous game: De Hagenees vindt dat Ajax een gevaarlijk spel speelt. The Hagenees believes Ajax is playing a dangerous game. "The footballers are gone. To this day, there is no head of development, there is no trainer, there are no assistants, video analysts, et cetera, et cetera. What is going on now has not happened in Ajax's history. The entire football heart is cut from Ajax. A top club needs people through whose veins run football and specialists. But at Ajax, that balance has completely disappeared. Corporate turns the club of the wayward Cruyff into a one-size-fits-all sausage in no time." What do you think of his complaints? Does he have a point?
Certainly in recent times I believe Ajax have failed to identify talent properly, and that is a major problem. I also see far too many small and weak youngsters coming up. Need to see major improvements and better Ajax football, but not going to happen with this current roster. Some changes in the hierarchy of the Club will hopefully get things back to normal, but I’m not overly excited or enthusiastic about what I see, but hoping and praying for better days ahead.
There is some good news on the financial front. Ajax earned more from commercial activities than PSV and Feyenoord combined. Ajax brought in €119,500,000 from match day revenue, merchandise, TV, and partnerships.
We've posted about this a bunch but it's been shocking how weak/small all of the youth guys are. The game has legitimately changed into a much more physical, faster, press based one over the last 8-10 years. We haven't really adapted. I saw another Ajax site someone ask 'when's the last time we had a pure 10?' They just don't exist anymore because you need people who can do more than just create. They need to be able to press, run, play SOME defense. Few interesting notes: * Minsinlat will have Gorter as part of the first team this year. He won't be loaned out Maybe they were a little too harsh on the Schaal disaster? Maybe he will compete with Rulli? * Setford extended until 2027. Didn't see that coming I thought he was going to walk on a free. * Reeger to Twente is official. 1m plus a buy back clause. Related to above: IMO just too weak right now to play at a high level. Maybe he will improve and we can get him back in 1-2 seasons. * Once Bellingham to Real Madrid is official, I think Alvarez to Dortmund will be done. I expect a pretty good fee. * Berghuis got a 2 match ban (maybe up to 3).
We did have a true #10 but his career was cut short before it started by the heart incident in the alps in 2017.
Its understandable he reacted the way he did. Standing up for your teammates is always a good thing. But at the same time you cant go around punching people. A better way to handle this is to take a pic of the offender, give it to the media, let them publish it on the news, and shame the guy
It wasnot because of what initially came into the press, the racist remarks to Brobbey. It was because of repeatedly insulting Berghuis himself that triggered the punch. It was only one person who told that racist story to the local press, nobody else, and later Berghuis came with the apologize for what he had done and the real reason of it. I already wondered about that Brobbey story as in the vid he was nowhere to be seen. The guy who was punched is known and what has happened is investigated by the police.
First of all, the video only shows a couple of seconds, so there's no way to confirm whether Brobbey was involved or not. Second of all, please post a link where Berghuis admits the "real" reason why he punched this heckler. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm not currently in NL so I dont keep up with the news very well
Those seconds are enough, people moving around the coach door opening, but no Brobbey. Anyway, here's what I thought to have posted before. Those match bans are in a way what he deserved for stamping in the match on a on the ground lying defender's leg. It was unbelievable the VAR did nothing. https://www.fcupdate.nl/voetbalnieu...-komt-met-heel-andere-verklaring-na-vuistslag
It's one of the sources, they all come with the same statement from Berghuis management. That socalled racist incident was only by one anonimous person mentioned to the local paper. Nobody else mentions it, not even the players themselves.
OK, we have had enough of the dialogue about Berghuis. If the two of you wish to continue, please use the message feature. I will delete future posts on this topic. Berghuis has been suspended, end of story.
So the story is that Maurice Steijn (Sparta head coach) is a top candidate now?? Didn’t see that coming. Not sure his style/tactics are what is needed.
Apparently it’s Steijn (3 year contract). One of his big things appears to be having a mentally fit team without a lot of bs. Maybe that’s just what Ajax needs these days. You do have to be impressed with what he did with Sparta (6th), a side that was nearly relegated the prior season.
Interesting this, about Steijn. Kind of follows what I was saying above. (Throw it in Google Translate if need be): https://www.vi.nl/pro/overig/het-su...-van-nu-is-relatiemanagement/share/bb4828df8f
