This wouldn't be a total surprise if it happens.... Would also explain the Ceballos renewal if it is confirmed.

I'd rather keep Luka for another year amongst the young guys + have a very deep squad for long season.

Rather straightforward that if Ceballos renews, another midfielder is leaving.

IMO we need the depth to compete on 3 fronts, we're just used to having a thin bench..

What do you expect from a poster who believes Haaland is only slightly better than Osimhen.

More will follow. As I said months ago, half of this team is deadwood or on their last legs. I am definitely worried about having Ancelotti contribute to this squad building with him talking to the CBF.

But Kane and Bellingham is a great start and probably any coach would want them. Nobody will complain about Kane in case we buy him. I normally wouldn't care about the price, whether its 80 or 120 for a player like that. But we keep being reminded that money only grows on trees in the middle east now. So I simply don't want us to overpay for for someone who will have no resale value and not even test the water for more long term project strikers.

I admit I'm biased towards Osimhen. But even so I am firmly in the camp that wants investment now, not Mbappe in 202X. I'd be pretty happy with Kane. And if Mbappe wants to come, the ball is in his court.

Considering his second half of the year we did pay a bit too much for him. But its not just overpaying, letting Benzema walk while he was still on a contract without getting any compensation from a very rich buyer, its also a sign to me that he might have lost his edge.

Getting Hazard to quit half his money was nice, but that was more Hazard's decision.

Nacho staying makes me very happy. He belongs with us.

We all love Luka Modric but if he gets offered a huge bag by KSA I wouldn’t begrudge him leaving. We are well supplied in midfield and Luka has given us his all and more.

I hope Lucas Vasquez asks to leave. Not because I don’t love Lucas but it’s the only way the club will try to reinforce at RB. Plus Lucas would probably enjoy a new adventure.

The last 2 weeks have shown us again that none of these sporting rags and Twitter insiders know anything. Look how they all fumbled the Benzema thing. So whatever someone posts here, discuss and dissect but please don’t take it as gospel and get mad (or happy) until it’s officially over the line.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Luka ends up changing his mind and leaving. They just gave Kante €100m tax free per year FFS. That would be entirely on us, who waited until now to renew the greatest midfielder we have ever had. :devilish:

I thought Modric extends his contract one more year. If so, the Saudis can fund Harry Kane for us.

Benz had a contract until 2024 according to Ancelotti and we let him go. Do you think we'd keep Modric as hostage if he wants to take Saudi mega offer at 37 just because he was under contract?

    This season out
    1. Benzema
    2. Asensio
    3. Hazard
    4.Mariano
    5.Lucas - probable
    6. Modric - Prabable
7.Mendy - club try to sell him

    IN
    Bellingham - probable

This situation is primarily the result of mbappe obsession - and we wanted to sign a striker but none arrived but in a big fit , if we do not get a CF then we are dead before the season starts

I don't think the EURO 2024 logic applies to Modric. He will have his spot in NT guaranteed no matter where he plays.

Ceballos is signed to make up minutes lost due to Modric and Kroos ageing factor - in fact we have gaps everywhere to fill in this season

we should let modric leave to Saudi to make some money for his retirement - this would give sometime to see how it impact our midfield

I think it could have given the club a bit more leverage. Modric brought the Saudi interest to Florentino and said he prefers Madrid. If we had renewed him right then he would look silly coming back now and saying ”Well actually…”

But since we never made it official, in my opinion it becomes more likely that he gets tempted by the other offer, as he is officially unemployed within 3 weeks.

The club should ask you guys on RMBS who to buy and what price instead of leaving it to the guys who’s profession it is, some for over 30 years.
