Then you better get yourself a RB that actually poses an offensive threat and that can overlap.....Dani is not that anymore.
Decisive might mean different things to you and I considering the amount of time spent with us and it’s not just about the so called big games, still, not worth a debate for me, as I said , if true, so long and good luck, don’t think he in any way fulfilled his potential with us, and I’ll say again a far far too lazy and infuriating player off the ball for most of his time here
https://www.realmadrid.com/en/news/2023/06/04/asensio-17-trophies-for-real-madrid What an emotional message from Marco Asensio. Best of luck to him, wherever he plays. As long as it's not against Real Madrid. I see him going to PSG. No way he goes to Barca.
This guy was unfairly piled on to the point it was pure hatred from some here. He had a role to play and it's important to not forget how exciting he was in his first two years here. The injury really torpedoed his career but he was still able to be useful. It's a shame he couldn't transition to be a 9 with that left foot.
Asensio is a supersub type of player. He rarely played well when not coming from the bench. Unfortunately, he never accepted the role. That is understandable, tho. He suffered a terrible injury. If it hadn't been for that, I'm sure his career here would have been stellar.
Still one of the best, if not the best, left leg shooter I saw. Good luck to him making money in PSG.
It was unfair to expect him to work hard off the ball and give the effort he gave his contract year in the others?
Overall he was a decent back up option, problem is we relied on him as a starter for far too many stretches lately especially as a right winger which he’s terrible at playing. Not renewing is definitely the correct option. We’ll need his replacement to be able to play as a right winger effectively, and there’s many better options for that back up role who won’t cost a lot.
The issue is he had attitude because he saw himself as a starter. He didn't work hard, he didn't seem to care unless he had an opportunity in the box Those aren't redeeming qualities
His career was stellar. What he achieved is pretty much the outcome for probably less than 5% of all people in the world that play football. Won trophies, scored brutal goals, represented his country. Next level above that is best player in the world tier.
I think the injury changed him from 'next Spanish wonder' to 'useful player.' Guess his achievements are "stellar" level, but he was too inconsistent to be a stellar player.
Wouldn't have minded him staying. Don't mind him leaving. With a little more ambition, hard work and consistency he could have taken that next step as a player. I don't think PSG is the place for him though. 🚨🌕| Marco Asensio is NOT seen as a starter by PSG, but a good market opportunity for a quality player off the bench. @lequipe 🇪🇸 pic.twitter.com/RzZ2F3QNKQ— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) June 6, 2023
You could say the same thing about Hazard (except its 0.05 percent and not 5). But we know you won't. Asensio simply never developed his game, yet he had a bit too high of an opinion of himself as a player regardless. It was not his workrate that bothered me throughout his career as much as the sheer lack of imagination when finding himself in a one on one situation or surrounded by defenders. If it wasn't an opportunity for a shot the guy basically always played it safe. For a player with such crisp technique it was shocking how low his creativity and flair was.
I think this is the reality of him. People talk about how ACL injuries aren't a big deal anymore and maybe that's because he didn't take the rehab seriously but he went from future superstar to useful sub after the injury. He was fine for what he ended up being being. The injury was unfortunate.
