He's very young. Look how long it's taken Curtis Jones to get his groove. Hopefully, we just loan or sell with a buyback clause.
RB Leipzig are preparing a new bid for Fabio Carvalho after opening proposal turned down by #LFC last week. ⚪️🔴 #RBLeipzigLiverpool don’t want to lose Fabio on permanent deal, buy back option could be the solution. come on, Sam - use your imagination a little - haha. A M A = Alexis Mac Allister - at least for bayern is god.
Was reading and I meant to link and now can’t find it. Naby Keita. His stats were off the chart before signing (an Edwards signing) and for the price and the stats he represented a very good/great signing. LFC and Klopp in particular have a “no asshole” policy, so stats and money notwithstanding, he needed to pass this test. Met with the appropriate people, passed with flying colors, good to go. There was an injury concern (ha!) but it was felt with proper treatment and a proper fitness regimen, it’d be good. But here’s where the wheels fell off. In his first pre-season when the club was flying from A to B, he reported to the physios with a sore, stiff neck from sleeping poorly on the plane. Physio didn’t work, so he sat out with “a minor concern”. As time went on, it became apparent that Keita was one of those players. “Stevie, your left leg is hanging off below the knee” “Gimme an Ace bandage, I’ll be good”. “Hey boss my neck hurts when I turn to the left and look up quickly.” “OK, Naby, sit this one out, we don’t want things to get worse.” Every club (all sports) has players who will play with a leg hanging off and others who go on the injury list with a paper cut. It’s a mentality thing and not an awful lot can be done, because the paper cut players feel they can only play if they’re 100%, whereas the leg hanging off players will play through the pain barrier but can often do more damage when they do. But the story on Keita was/is that yes, he had some serious injuries, but too often he wouldn’t/couldn’t take the field because he felt he wasn’t 100% and the Club view was that a player who feels he can’t play is a detriment not an addition. As I say every club has the paper cut players, but Keita seems to have been worse than most. Shame, because the scouting wasn’t wrong, he did have the tools.
He was quite robust in his time in Germany - so there were no signs of the injury problems to come. - The PL was too rough and tumble for him - The injuries piled up - and he just never recovered - He kept getting picked for Guinea and played either coming off an injury or even with an injury. The calamitous injury he suffered on international duty probably was the start of the end. - And yes - hindsight - he definitely wasn't a player that rushed to get fit it now seems. - Finally - and this is conjecture - he was now being paid 3-4x what he made in Germany - and was now a "star" player with wages to match. Maybe, just maybe, some fire was lost.
He may do well with another club in another league but he certainly couldn't deal with the physicality of the prem league.
I think 2 other factors with Keita are: 1) He never really picked up the English language. There were reports recently about how Darwin is struggling because he doesn’t understand the instructions of the coaching staff. I think that could have been a problem with Naby as well. 2) I always wondered about how he fit in with the squad. The whole “Naby lad” thing was cute, but it also made it seem like he was treated like a little brother as opposed to a peer. How was Naby meant to reach the level of Virgil, when Virgil was treating him like his little brother? Did Naby have the personality required to become a star amongst all of the established stars that were already at Liverpool? Sadio Mane was also shy and quiet, but he also had a cutthroat mentality that demanded respect. Did Naby have that? I could be way off here, but it’s something that I always thought.
Agree with 1, disagree with 2. Calling someone “lad” in Scouse is not a diminutive, implying in any way that he is less or number 2 or whatever. It’s a sign of respect, endearment what have you. I wouldn’t think that he was treated as the little brother. If anything, that role would have been filled by Elliott or Jones, TAA a few years back. Lad and la are good things in Scouse world.
Everton forward Neal Maupay has hinted that Khephren Thuram is close to becoming a Liverpool player. Marco Asensio had an offer from Liverpool ‘on the table’ but rejected the approach in favour of joining Paris Saint Germain. Liverpool transfer targets Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone have been spotted together as speculation mounts over their futures. Liverpool are one of the clubs who could pursue a move for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison this summer. After Liverpool have secured Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, whispers suggest another significant arrival: Barcelona’s Franck Kessie. Liverpool are apparently also eyeing Tyler Adams in wake of his relegation with Leeds United. The outlet claims that ‘Liverpool have also discussed a possible move’ for the United States international. Liverpool are linked with a move for French striker Marcus Thuram who is available on a free transfer this summer. Yes, yes, yes. Get N'Dicka, Thuram, and Thuram and our summer is done.
It wasn’t the use of the word lad, it was the way they seemed to treat him. I could be totally wrong though.
according to Grizz Khan , Chelsea made a last gasp effort to sign Mac allister. It was too late. Alexis and his father had informed all interested parties his preference was to work under Klopp and LFC despite no UCL.
Liverpool have just signed Alexis Mac Allister for… £35m. 🚨🔴 #LFCReds have now triggered the clause to sign the midfielder after medical tests completed with Brighton’s permission.
