The Saudi sources that said Benzema was definitely leaving when the Spanish media did its U-turn are now claiming that Modric is leaving to Saudi Arabia with the announcement coming in 2-3 days.

Not like club knew months before that Benz would leave. Things started moving in last few weeks so that's when club reacted as well.

Not really, but lets hope we get him without being robbed by Levy. We should negotiate on other fronts as well.

Honestly, Modric leaving makes sense if Bellingham is coming and Ceballos is staying. If we sign Havertz (or some RW), then Valverde is a full time midfielder. This means 7 midfielders, all expecting starting minutes except maybe Ceballos. The fact that Ceballos hasnt left like Asensio makes me feel like he believes Modric might still be leaving.

Love Lucas Vazquez, but there hasnt bee a single game this season he has played where he looked at the same level as everyone else.

Hopefully he leaves so we go in for Ivan Fresneda; but seems like Arsenal are going all out for him. I'd be pissed if he we didn't go for him.

It looks like they are really cleaning house and getting rid of all the dead wood lying around.

I've heard from a couple of spanish reporters that Ceballos does not want to go to England and is tired of playing for teams who compete for nothing.

He could be gambling that in a year modric and kroos are gone, and he may get a shot at increased playing time.

I think the club is also comfortable because it's only a three year contract and it ensures that they will not have to spend silly money next summer just to get a player for the bench. When you got Bellingham Valverde Camavinga and Tocuhaemni... you are not looking at world beaters for the 5th and 6th midfielder spots.

Given the situation, I am perfectly OK with this deal.

Also, despite what this board says, until I see 2 new lbs on the roster, Camavinga is getting some minutes at lb. And unless they add two new attackers, some midfielders will be getting minutes in the front three.

I'm a bit scared that once the overhaul is done the squad might be even worse. This is a big test for Florentino whether he's still got it. The way we have been sporadic and tentative in approaching players/clubs, and not really winning at the negotiation table (ex. Hazard, Tchouameni) doesn't fill me with much optimism. And now Florentino, Calafat and Ancelotti are "big fans" of Havertz... Huh?

I do not completely believe the Havertz rumors unless it's on the cheap. The numbers thrown around do not make sense to me.

I feel the same way about Modric as I did about Benzema.

If the salary offer is ridiculous, I’d be delighted for the player if he decided to leave. Dude has given everything and is at the end of his story with us, if he wants the money then go get it son.

I will be shocked if Modric moves because of the 2024 Euro. It is not the same situation.

    I'm with you.

It'll pain me if he leaves because I think he can have a massive role mentoring Cama, Tchouameni and Bellingham*. However, maybe he too believes he can't perform at the highest level required of him and the post-WC season was testament to this.

What amazes me is how the club might let him go for free. Did he not sign an extension till 2024? Same goes for Benzema. A contract is a contract, we've let too many players from the recent golden 3peat era go for free or for super cheap.

I've been reading that CBF want to offer extraordinary responsibilities to Carlo as the first non-Brazilian coach of the Seleçao.

He'll be tasked with restructuring Brazilian football. In addition to coaching first team and preparing them for the CA/Olympics/WC, he will be supervising all age group NTs, developing comprehensive plans for talent management, style of play, training methods and selections.

There will be a meeting between Ancelotti and the CBF this month and from what I understand, if Carlo rejects them, the Brazilians will move on to the next candidate.

Well it not really an overhaul, not yet at least. Mariano was always leaving. We knew Asensio was after the money. Terminating Hazard's contract was the suprise, though it should have been done last year.

And then the departure of Benzema and possibly Modric departures are their own decisions, the club is probably as surprised as we are.

For me, any overhaul should start with the coaching staff..

That would leave who Nacho?, Ceballos?, Brahim?, Vallejo?, Joselu?, Fran, Dani, we will need Spaniards , not sure of the situation as far as the question marked players are concerned

Hazard and Benz had a Contract till 2024.
I do agree that with Kroos and Modric it takes long time for the official extension.

Are you sure regarding benzema?why didnt we insisted on a transfer fee?..if they can pay 400 milion than they can also pay at least 20 milion for a ballon d'or winner
