Finally, I placed my deposit for one ticket. My wife is opting out from this team. She joined me for the Gold Pride. Since the Stahre disaster, she has hesitated yearly for the Quakes.

The Bay FC website doesn't play nice with our home computers. It seems to have a security flaw that forces our browsers and ISP security to block it. My work computer allows the website, but somehow I forgot to put my credit card back in my wallet when I made an online purchase yesterday. I had to resort to a public computer at my local library branch to complete the transaction.

saw an article saying they're going to split home games between kezar and paypal.... what a dumb idea... hard to build a consistent fanbase when you do that. they need to pick a home and commit to it. just play at paypal, kezar will be terrible.

Completely agreed! And not going with the more traditional “City Name + Moniker” team-name is pretty dumb as well.

As for the splitting equal time between two cities/stadiums: sadly, that likely would’ve happened to the San Jose Earthquakes in 2005 (before completely moving the team to the other city) had Tony Amanpour gotten his way.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! :(

Bay FC Wanderers, or Rovers, or Rangers. Teams in England got those nicknames because they did not have a permanent home ground. (Queens Park Rangers played at 20 different locations before settling in at Loftus Road.)

I hope they don't have two home venues. What a mistake that would be!!! They are accepting costly deposits for premium seats and suites, things that Kezar does not have.

I am getting a fly by night vibe from this effort. Ownership is an investment firm that has never been a majority owner of a sports team fronted by celebrity tech executives and athletes who aren't going to be running the show.

They better hire the right people to get on course. The free event sounded well attended. Really minor league to have a kickoff event without knowing where the games will be and with a broken website. They apparently sold a lot of merchandise, however.

While I might otherwise agree, they did spend $50 million on an expansion fee which is like 10x the previous high.

Though you can pay a lot for the rights to the team and still run it as a fly-by-night.

I agree, they seem very SF centric. They are only using Paypal because they don't have a viable place to play in SF yet...Kezar is a very poor bandaid. The idea of dual supporting fanbases is a real stretch. The "Bay" we appeal to every community vibe sounds truly wonderful but in reality doesn't work unless you are the Warriors...not a small start up team. I don't see enough people traveling to Kezar of all places to make it work. And if the goal is to somehow get a stadium built in SF...good luck.

Imo, they would have a far greater chance of success being a SJ specific team and working a deal to play in PayPal....who knows, maybe that's what eventually might happen...when they find out there are far too many competing entertainment/sports options for fans to go to up there...I don't see a ton of SF snobs getting excited by Bay FC up there, especially if there is some SJ stank on it...you know it's true...

Their colors are medium blue, yellow, and red now? Looks more like a tribute to RSL. Maybe that’s as close as they could get to “deep navy, gray, and red.”

their board has a former warriors executive and former SF Giants executive on them... starting up a new NWSL team is a completely different animal than running a "big four" sport in SF, especially two teams that won multiple championships in the past 13 years. easy to market a team during that time period that is so successful and gets so much media attention like the giants and warriors. they are going to be in a for a very rude awakening if they try this lame split home stadium idea with kezar.

Or Barcelona. Or maybe City Hall only had the three primary colors.

Yeah, RSL being the wanna-be Barcelona / Real Madrid. Yeah, I figured that City Hall is limited in colors, but it's quite a stretch to go from medium blue / red / yellow to "Bay Football Club" colors.

According to the Bay Area News Group, Bay FC hired a CEO and GM.

In other news, the Bay FC website's security flaw still forces my home computers to block it, and Bay FC does not respond to emails.

Per the CEO hiring article in the East Bay Times:

. . . The likely home is PayPal Park in San Jose, which is hosting the U.S. women’s national team’s lone World Cup send-off match on July 9. It’ll be another chance for Stewart and Bay FC to connect directly with the fan base they hope become Bay FC fanatics . . .

Makes sense to hire the CEO and GM and have them decide where they're going to play. Hopefully it's PPP.

Bay Area’s 3 big cities all vying to be Bay FC’s long-term hometown
Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose officials all want Bay FC to build the team’s desired permanent stadium in their cities

There’s yet another territorial battle shaping up between the cities of Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose.

Now the Bay Area’s three largest cities are vying to become the future home of Bay FC.

The National Women’s Soccer League’s newest franchise is set to kick off in the spring of 2024 at a temporary home, which will likely be the San Jose Earthquakes’ home of PayPal Park.

And while there is still so much for Bay FC to do in the run-up to that first match next spring, Alan Waxman, co-founder and CEO of Sixth Street and co-chair of Bay FC, has made it clear that the organization wants its own training facility and stadium in the long-term future.

“You can’t be world class without having your own stadium,” Waxman said.

The desire for a stadium specific for a women’s team might have seemed far-fetched as recently as even three years ago. But by the time Bay FC takes the pitch next spring, the NWSL will already have one team in a stadium built specifically for a women’s team, as the Kansas City Current are nearing completion on an 11,500-seat stadium.

Bay FC could eventually emulate what the Current are doing here in the Bay Area — and all three cities appear ready to help do that. At Bay FC’s kick-off event in the Presidio this month, representatives from each city gave stump speeches for their city to be the team’s home.

In follow-up conversations with this news organization, it became even clearer that all three cities are gearing up for these discussions with Bay FC.

I just found and read this article. The options for San Francisco and San Jose are far-fetched. The Oakland option might work, although it seems a bit difficult for two teams from competing first division women's leagues to share a stadium.

My advice to the Bay FC leadership is to do things in the right order. Announce the actual venue and fix the website before beginning a PR campaign for a pipe dream.
