After finished 16th in the German Bundesliga, Stuttgart will enter into the relegation playoff against 2. Bundesliga third-placed Hamburg.

    Stuttgart

Stuttgart entered into this clash with a run of only one loss in their last eight Bundesliga matches. Also, there have been over 2.5 goals with both teams scoring in four of Stuttgart’s last six matches.

    Hamburg

Hamburg are coming off streaking three wins lately, and they have the best attack in the 2. Bundesliga this season.

    Verdict:

Hamburg has been scoring consistently this season, while Stuttgart has been diligent in keeping opponents off the scoresheet. My prediction for Stuttgart vs Hamburg is both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.

    BTTS – YES

    Over 2.5 Goals

VfB 1-0 Hamburg at the half. Mavropanos with a first minute goal, but Guirassy missed a PK.

Now on 55', VfB are up 3-0 after second half goals by Vagnoman and Guirassy.

I didn't realize this match was on today until I went searching for a Dutch match for Euro playoffs. Missed first half. VfB looked good in the second, better than all season in fact. So at least we know they would be near the top of 2.B if they were to go down. Still, a 3-0 lead heading to Hamburg for Monday's match is hopefully unassailable.

But what was your predicted scoreline? We are currently over 2.5 goals at this point.

Hopefully, they'll stay solid on defense, and maybe pick up another goal on a counter. They must be careful, but not too careful. If they try to defend for 90 minutes, they could wind up losing.

We can all feel pretty confident at 3-0, not only for the score, but for the balance of play. I hope they won't play defensive from the start in Hamburg and let HSV take their chances.

    Good luck today, VfB!

Hamburg score at 6' to go up 1-0 (1-3) in the match but VfB equalize. I was on a phone call and missed why their goal was disallowed. Still 1-0.

48' Guirassy crosses in front of goal for Millot to slot home, 1-1 (1-4). No offsides on this one.

Their keeper blocked that one with his legs, but could only deflect it into the roof of the net. That has to be demoralizing.

65' Hamburg goalkeeper flubs a side pass and Millot nips in to slot home, 1-2 (1-5). I think we can relax now. :)

The ball bounced right in front of Fernandez, and he took his eye off it. The goal triggered several arguments and pushing. It's over and they know it.

Silas scores at the end of stoppage time and it ends 1-3 (1-6).

Good to know that we can at least beat the 3rd place squad in 2.B!!

Last season escaped the relegation battle in stoppage time of final match, and this season had to be in relegation matches. Next season, drop?

Winoman, don't forget to start next season's thread so that we can discuss the summer transfers.

Five seasons in a row in the top 4 in the 2. Bundesliga and failing to reach the 1. Bundesliga, that's quite the achievement for HSV!

HSV will be keeping Schalke company next year. Entirely deserved. The only sympathy I have is how they lost automatic promotion. They won their match, then watched Jahn Regensburg give up goals at 90+3 and 90+9 to Heidenheim to snatch promotion away. Just one point short.

Almost as bad as Dortmund losing the title on the final day. WTH happened to Borussia D?

It's worse than Dortmund losing the title on the final day, it's not like Dortmund lost the title on the final days for several consecutive seasons now.
