It’d be funny if Chelsea signs some players and then fails to offload enough players to balance any of their spending

Todd and company need to accept what they deem as fair market value isn’t what they are going to get.

The more they buy the more necessary it is for them to sell and they are put behind in the negotiation process.

Most clubs are careful about wages as there can be an impact on the locker room along with future negotiations for players on roster. Transfer fees have a different dynamic.

It is such a crazy thing to think that Pulisic could go for a $20M transfer fee when Aaronson went to Leeds for $30M.

Not as crazy as Chelsea paying 58M GBP for Pulisic to begin with.

I'd be shocked if they even came close to balancing their spending. It seems just about inevitable, at least if they want a CL quality roster.

I think the amount they spent on CP to begin with was a bit over-the-top. Now, he's being sold at under half that but here is the situation.
    1. I think Chelsea over paid.
2, Chelsea as a club fvcked things up massively and have to sell cheap because as a club - they are a mess.

Neither of these two are CP's fault nor within his control. Who cares what Chelsea sell him for as it is more indicative of where Chelsea are financially as a club rather that where CP is at as a player.

It is not just CP, here is some more info on Havertz...

The best part is that Aaronson is neither the most expensive nor the worst player Leeds bought last season... just an astoundingly poorly managed club.

Meh, they won some silverware with him and at the time Hazard was leaving CFC and if they didn't buy him in the winter they were going to be short numbers on wide attacking players while under a transfer ban.

    Context matters.

And not as crazy as paying $132 million for Enzo Fernandez.

Not as crazy as RM paying 115M for Hazard just to sit him on the bench.

Brenden is not a $30m player, at least not at the moment. Bet he's about half that much now, so Puli is still above him.

I think it's hard to judge how good the players at Chelsea are considering the entire team is a dumpster fire. They almost need to start fresh but with players bought for the long term/and or players kept for the long term. How many different starting 11s did they have all season? Was there any continuity?

Chelsea was designed to achieve rottenness. They succeeded effectively and consistently across most of the season. I'd call that "continuity."

    words from his own mouth:

"This summer, we're obviously going to have to see what happens — it’s obviously very early. As of right now, I'm a Chelsea player and I plan to go back, but a lot of things can happen, a lot of things can change.""

wise choice of words - "I plan to go back" ....

"very early" means whatever could transpire may take some time.

ok - now on to the Nations League ....

Probably the best thing to say about the situation. The less he says, the better.

Let his team/agent do the work and stay low key.

midfielder/striker departures so far and highly likely

    1. Havertz to Real Madrid
    2. Mount likely to ManU
    3. RLC to AC Milan
    4. Ziyech to ? (PSG)
    5. Kovacic to ManCity
    6. Kante to Saudi Arabia (Al-Nassr or Al -ttihad)
    7. Auba possibly to Saudi Arabia
    8. Felix back to Atletico
    9. Gallagher to West Ham?
    10. Zakaria back to Juve

I know we keep hearing Juventus, and Napoli and Newcastle and so forth as CP destinations .....

    Nkunku inbound
    Lukaku (we shall see)
Hudson Odoi coming back from Leverkeusen
    who else?

not impossible that CP stays right where he is .... as crazy as that might be ....

I for one would be so bummed out if Pulisic winds up staying with Chelsea. All reports are that they want him gone, and he wants to leave, so I'm guessing if he stays, it will only be because they were no decent options for him elsewhere, which would be depressing. The last two years at Chelsea have been pretty brutal for him (as he acknowledged in yesterday's USMNT press conference). I'd love for him to get a fresh start with a team that values him and will give him a fair shot.

Fulham could probably buy him for 20 million. If they keep Mitrovic and Palhinha honestly could be a great spot for him. They just had Willian use up a ton of minutes and is likely to return. Manor Solomon is 50/50 on return. He'd have to beat out Harry Wilson which would be easy. If they can retain Silva anybody that speaks Portuguese that used to be at a top club will be linked to them. He totally saved Pereira's career and got the best out of Willian. Their linked to Fred right now.

Before you all laugh, Khan is one of the five richest owners in the EPL and Fulham has been strung up because of FFP and yo-yoing. I think they spend big this year.

Pulisic might be better served away from a Champions League club at this point IMO. He clearly places a lot of stress on himself and I think being trusted at the club level day in and day out would be better for his development. He needs confidence. Not the sparky kind. The quiet kind.

I would love to see Pulisic wind up at Fulham. That seems like the perfect level to regain his form and confidence, plus he'd get to play with Ream and Robinson, and he wouldn't even have to move. I haven't seen any rumors of interest in him by Fulham though.

If Palinha goes then they will just have to get Pulisic and Adams and we can all hyperventilate over too many Americans on one team again!
