So per Fab Ramano the first name from the u 20 team to be showing up in transfer rumors during the world cup is.... Danny Edelman

While I wouldn't call him one of our best performers... or rather someone who catches your eye... I do think Edelman getting interest kind of proved my theory (or obvious statement) that as nice as technical ability with the ball is, teams are way more willing to give looks to people with good off ball movement and defensive IQ and let them figure out the rest

Daniel Edelman needs to get a move to Europe because Peter Stroud stole his job while he's been away at the U-20 World Cup

In his early twenties Ream won the sprinting contest in a U.S. camp. His high speed starting point has probably allowed him to hang around long enough to iron out his error rate issue and become a legit PL player.

Right. I specifically said the issues "were not the same." My point is more that players' abilities aren't fixed and if they're sufficiently diligent -- plus get the right opportunities -- they can iron those out. Does Craig's passing qualify him for this type of treatment? I think it should.

RSL has one player with more than 2 goals thru half the season. What kind of stupidity leads to Diego Luna being benched?

Wasn’t able to watch, but not surprised that they choked. They hadn’t really played anybody yet, and they were probably getting a little too ahead of themselves about how good they were. Regardless, still a very successful tournament for a team missing a lot of its key players.

Eh.. Not really a choke. Losing to Uruguay in the quarterfinal isn't a calamity. I thought we were playing quite well actually until the first Uruguay goal.

As always, its important to clarify that our U20 pool is a lot stronger than what was on display. Like Ricardo Pepi. Like Paxten Aaronson. Who wasn't released by his Bundesliga club, and then they didn't play him. [People criticize MLS clubs for doing that, so just wanted to point out the Euro clubs do the same.] The list goes on of kids that COULD have been on this squad. The pool is deep. The pool is strong. Lots to be excited about.

I remember him being noted for his speed as a young player. It's not for nothing that he was asked to play LB so often.

I agree with this. I didn't see the first goal but the second was very flukey. The soccer was soccering. Guys missed chances, Cade had goal bound shot blocked by Pukstas... sometimes it's not your day.

Don’t miss the part where I gave this group a lot of credit and acknowledged the key absences…. That said, it’s a choke considering that this was the first real challenge that they’ve faced and while they squashed all the minnows, they weren’t up for a more difficult team.

Of course, that happens. I’m not crucifying them over it. And I still would argue that this is probably our most successful u20 team ever. But at the same time, I hope they learn from this disappointment and grow from it.

Shrug. Based on how we played in the game, I just wouldn't call it a "choke job." That's all. I think that's overly harsh. I thought we were the better team for long stretches in the game. But soccer things happened.......................

I don't think we choked exactly, nor do I think we were the better team at any point. Uruguay exposed our naivety; they looked like a fully professional team against some talented schoolboys. Uruguay played within themselves, they had a plan, and they executed it while ruthlessly exposing our defensive frailties while easily trapping our few acting options (Cowell and Luna in particular) in dead ends.

I don't like calling it a choke job when it clearly wasn't. I think that's a very disrespectful comment to make about a team that made the quarterfinals of a World Cup. Also means nothing from someone who says they didn't actually watch the game.
