so whats the deal with the constant scouting of all these argie's? Italy have loads of young players coming up, I don't think there's a need for this
The problem is related to the fact that Italian professional teams (even those in the third division) want mature players or at least with experience among the PROs in teams and therefore they prefer players with experience even coming from less competitive leagues. Take as an example Milan bought Charles De Ketelaere only because he had experience in the Belgian first division paying 35 million euros while up to a few years if Empoli had for Baldanzi asked to Milan for 5 million euros Milan would have been very angry. As far as Italian Talents are concerned, there is the special topic "****TOP PROSPECTS - ITALY" where I put the best talents who are coming out (also with videos) and in this topic I put all the matches of the youth national teams (from U15 to to U21) that I can find, take a look and express your opinion if you want, I'd be very happy
The Under 20’s look awesome at times but have been inconsistent. They dominated Brazil initially then lost to Nigeria , beat England and Colombia soundly. Many of these guys deserve a starting place in the Serie A but Italian coaches are reluctant and would rather start seasoned foreigners. If they get to be full timers for their clubs, I’m betting they could easily be on the senior team someday soon. Sadly, it won’t happen and then everyone cries when Italy fails to qualify for a senior World Cup. It has been an ongoing problem and dilemma for years but nothing ever changes.
all U20 teams have ups and downs Nigeria U20 itself (but with African teams unfortunately you can never be sure about Age) lost against Brazil then the basic situation I explained above and that's what you pointed out you too, then the talents that are coming out are interesting in my opinion and only time will tell if they will be able to keep their promises.
It must also be said that the Argentines and the Brazilians are doing scouting in the Italian youth teams (see Nicolò Meringolo for the Argentines and Emanuele Vignato for the Brazilians) links https://www.transfermarkt.it/nicolo-meringolo/profil/spieler/934138 https://www.transfermarkt.it/emanuel-vignato/profil/spieler/394346
sounds a bit like the situation in Colombia, I wonder if its a case of the older generation being set in their ways. there's so much young italian talent right now and with all the financial uncertainty going on in Serie A, it would actually be a great time to make the most of these players, instead of spending 30m on some guy that may or may not be interested in giving their all.
I believe the issue started in the 90’s after the Bosman ruling. There was always a big cry from some in the media and a few others in regards to how many foreign players were allowed to play even when they raised it from 2-3. After the ruling though it became exaggerated and you started to see teams like Inter for example , fielding 11 foreign players and they even won a champions league by fielding no italian players. Maybe Materazzi played mop up minutes at the end but that was it. Fans just don’t care as much as long as they only care about their club first and foremost and the national team comes second.
If that transpires, FIGC should immediately hire Luciano Spalletti. He has the perfect profile to coach the Azzurri.
Ciao ragazzi! Does anyone know if Inter players are going to be considered for Nations League after Champions League final! I searched everywhere but I haven’t found if there is a final decision about that! Thank you in advance!
Inter players Alessandro Bastoni,Federico Dimarco , Nicolò Barella and current Under 20 WC player, Mattia Zanotti I'm sure will be considered by Mancini.
Lets hope Verona win the playoff match and Bari win theirs for promotion as they play the most Italians
Cagliari's D is all Italian. They actually aren't bad offenders when it comes to overplaying foreigners. Bari has a lot of Italians but many of them are journeymen. Esposito is one to watch though. Spezia deserves Serie C2 for all I care. Una vergogna tranne Salvatore Esposito.
I dislike both teams equally, I wish they would both go to B. Anyway, it's good to see the majority of calico fans on Italian social media are all for playing more ragazzi in top clubs and not as many foreigners
someone needs to sign Gnonto too now that Leeds went down. Bring him home to Serie A Milan can send that donkey Origi back and bring him in
L’ELENCO DEI CONVOCATI PER LE FINALI DI NATIONS LEAGUE Portieri: Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint Germain), Alex Meret (Napoli), Guglielmo Vicario (Empoli); Difensori: Francesco Acerbi (Inter), Alessandro Bastoni (Inter), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Matteo Darmian (Inter), Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli), Federico Dimarco (Inter), Leonardo Spinazzola (Roma), Rafael Toloi (Atalanta); Centrocampisti: Nicolò Barella (Inter), Bryan Cristante (Roma), Davide Frattesi (Sassuolo), Jorginho (Arsenal), Lorenzo Pellegrini (Roma), Marco Verratti (Paris Saint Germain), Nicolò Zaniolo (Galatasaray); Attaccanti: Federico Chiesa (Juventus), Wilfried Gnonto (Leeds), Ciro Immobile (Lazio), Giacomo Raspadori (Napoli), Mateo Retegui (Tigre).
For me, Dimarco is massive for Gli Azzurri going forward. Spinazzola hasn't shown he is back to his pre-injury self. So, without Dimarco we are really missing that energy and pace on the left side. Adding him will open up so much more room for us. Acerbi has always been shaky to me, and Bastoni has never fully convinced me either. But, they are in the CL final. The next few weeks of CL Final and Nations League will tell us a lot about Bastoni. Is he ready to take the next step into ELITE status?
