Unlike the senior team, E2 will have had a full week’s worth of rest for this weekend’s game.

It turns out that Colorado Rapids 2 are on top of the Western Conference, as well as (I think) the whole league.

E2 will certainly have its work cut out for it. :(

    GO EARTHQUAKES II !!!

Oof. Earthquakes II have the same problem the mothership has, giving up that goal in the 90+5th minute.

Rapids II coming back for the tie totally undeserved IMO. I don't think Tingey fouled in the box - I think it was a legit tackle. And that of course changed the game. And not sure why CO even got that last corner kick. It was a minute past the end of stoppage time.

Anyway, both Quakes goals very good. The first one was a great turn in midfield by Cruz Medina and a good long pass to Skahan, who made a really clever touch to put it behind the defender and finish. Second goal was a laser from Richmond after working his way across the box for a little space.

I kept hearing how great CO II is, but I didn't see it. The Quakes outplayed them pretty strongly IMO.

I had to work and couldn’t watch live but at least it’s up on YouTube.

    Gutting tie to he honest.

This is on DeGeer. Quakes ii were cruising at 2-0 and at 70 minutes in he subs out his DMid Mendoza for…..Hategan? Why in the world do you bring in a winger for your defensive midfielder??? The best move was to sub in Cano and move Cilley to DMid.

Hategan and Ayon were not good enough to shield the back line against a team pushing to get back in the game.

Also, Tingey and Hanya had a running battle back and forth with plenty of grabbing, jawing and kicking. Tingey on a yellow was just asking to get tossed. Why not sub him out? And when he did get red carded, why did DeGeer move a tired Verhoeven over to mark Hanya? Verhoeven is clearly not comfortable on the left. On the other hand a fresh Aaron Edwards had played some left back for UCLA last year.

Lastly, does DeGeer even train penalties? Q2 were terrible and Ochoa was committing so early it was embarrassing. DeGeer fail in this game.

I am happy with Medina’s play. Not only a stellar assist but I think he dummied the ball through to Richmond for the second goal. Smart decision that paid off.

Agree on Medina. I’ve been watching him - he seems to be getting more impactful every game and they finally are playing him in a central attacking role. Agree on the 2nd goal. Looks like Cruz not only dummied it but wound up setting a kind of pick for Richmond. :)

What I took from the game is that DeGeer doesn’t care that much about the results. He just wants to work on stuff. For example when the Quakes went up 2-0 he started having the team high press. Kind of the ultimate anti-Luchi move but I think he wanted to go for the jugular. And it almost worked. The Quakes were taking it to them for a while but didn’t get a 3rd goal and then is this something you really want to do at altitude?

The subs late didn’t make much sense in general as you say but again I think he was just trying to get guys like Hategan and Carbajal a run-out.

So bummed by the US loss that I forgot about this game, which is probably a good thing.
