I don't have any expectations for Varandas or Viana. They're two absolute clowns who manages to dismantle a title winning team and replace it with dog shit quality players. Hard to believe this team is 2 years removed from a title win.
Negotiations continue for Manuel Ugarte deal. David Datro Fofana is currently not part of the discussions between Chelsea and Sporting, but Chelsea are now insisting to find a solution. Poch wants Ugarte. 🔵🇺🇾 #CFC PSG also pushing, they're still in the race. pic.twitter.com/ddjl7KyFm8— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 30, 2023
All the reports have said that the deal will be for his clause but they want to negotiate how to pay for it. I wouldn't mind another deal for 60m and we brought in a Porro type loan signing with option to buy . PSG and Chelsea have tons of players they need to offload that would be great for us.
The problem with those deals is that the loan option is never with a optional purchase clause. It's always a loan with no option which makes absolutely zero sense for us to do
Yes and no . If the player has significant talent it could be the difference on the field. Maybe make it the CL finally and big funds for example , you going to say no to a promising striker ?
Promising? Yes. Well established and guaranteed to score and be a stud? No. Either way, it doesn't benefit the team long term. Sarabia was cool but the loan did nothing for us in the long run.
I saw news about 15M set aside for a striker, but these days strikers seem to be a rarity and good ones tend to be 20M+
Chermiti and Essugo weren't called up to the U19 Portugal team but that's because Amorim wants them at the start of pre-season. Both are going to be part of the squad next season, and youngsters Afonso Moreira and João Muniz are also getting a shot at pre-season It's looking like the following players are set to be loaned out or sold: Fatawu (if he's not gonna play, a loan move could work) Rochinha Sotiris Vinagre Eduardo Quaresma Tiago Tomás Jovane I think the others are to be sold, although not sure what kind of bids we are expecting for Rochinha, Sotiris, Jovane or Vinagre. TT or Edu could be sold for a few million and a percentage of a future transfer, in case they improve down the road.
Finally some news about arrivals? Record and A Bola both reporting our target for striker is 24 year old Coventry City and Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres. He finished the season with 22 goals and 12 assists in 50 matches, and he has 40 goals in the last 2 seasons. His transfer value on transfermarkt is 13M but they're expected to ask for up to 20M for him. Another name is Tariq Lamptey, for the RWB spot, from Brighton. We were already interested in January but he seems to be too expensive to buy, so we're looking at a loan move. I wouldn't mind a loan similar to Porro, with an option to buy.
Portuguese press reporting Ugarte to Chelsea is a done deal. He preferred Chelsea to PSG even though the French offered him a contract worth 5m a season, more than the 3.5m a year at Chelsea, as he prefers the Premier League. Chelsea will reportedly pay the 60m release clause and include 5m bonus if he completes certain objectives. Fabrizio Romano says it's not completely done but very close: Chelsea, advancing on Manuel Ugarte deal and very confident — negotiation not closed or completed yet. There are still things, details left to get it sealed 🚨🔵 #CFCChelsea cautious on Ugarte deal until they arrive to documents stage after Enzo saga with Benfica in January. pic.twitter.com/MyATrUBcMb— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 3, 2023
LOL this really is the silly season now. Chelsea are set to pull out of the race for Ugarte, after it was widely reported that it was basically a done deal. PSG came in with an improved contract for Ugarte which Chelsea apparently are unwilling or unable to match the salary. Breaking: Chelsea are pulling out of the Manuel Ugarte race, PSG are now in the lead to sign the player! 🚨🔵🇺🇾 #CFCPlayer was open to Chelsea move — but PSG have offered more and Chelsea are not willing to pay well above what they consider Ugarte’s “market rate”. pic.twitter.com/XYaSuSgoAY— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 4, 2023 Paris Saint-Germain are now working to close in on Manuel Ugarte deal at the beginning of next week. Chelsea have left the race, as things stand. 🚨🔴🔵 #PSGPSG, offering better terms to the player — but still in talks to finalize deal with Sporting around €60m fee. pic.twitter.com/dW1BGEC5O5— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 4, 2023
Can’t believe there’s not been more discussion about it in here… PSG have doubled the salary offer to Ugarte, but he was originally more interested in the offer from Chelsea. but here comes the fun part.. Chelsea wanted to include buying a stake in Sporting CP as part of any deal for Ugarte! Sounds like it all got a bit messy, definitely would’ve fallen foul of financial/transfer rules and so Chelsea pulled out. They are absolutely bat shit crazy now they’ve got a new owner
Insane but I feel it's just paper talk. Boehly is just a mess. Romano says Ugarte to PSG is done 🚨 Manuel Ugarte to PSG, here we go! Understand the player is ALREADY in Paris set for medical — he’ll sign the contract today. #PSGPSG will pay €60m to Sporting, Chelsea left the race 12h ago and Ugarte will join PSG as Campos closed the negotiation. Man these big clubs are ruining the game. Don’t know if I could still support Sporting if they just turned into a Chelsea B team. Already happened to Braga and guimaraes, only a matter of time until it happens to the big 3. Really unfortunate.
I don't care about anything but winning. So as long as we're winning, who gives a shit. Sporting has shown the inability to be properly run and win consistently, so I couldn't care less about ownership.
We already have a minority shareholder in Holdimo and in the last few years the club reacquired shares from many sources to have over 85% of shares. So I anticipate sooner or later selling a large chunk.
Record says we've made an initial offer of 12M + 3M in objectives for Viktor Gyokeres. Coventry wants 20M. He's apparently our #1 target for striker.
Record says we bought another 10% of Ugarte for 2M, increasing our percentage to 80%. So a 60M sale would mean we keep 48M instead of 42M. Ugarte ends up costing us 12.5M euros total. They also say we are bidding to acquire another 40% of Pote's rights to own 90%. We'd pay 7-8M for it, which would make his total transfer to 13.5-14.5M.
