Yeah, they may have no been able to afford it, priced out after they got promoted or something. Although I think pub every match would be expensive. Was curious about season ticket prices for Championship clubs, QPR has a season ticket for 235 pounds, West Ham the cheapest in the Prem at 299.
I'm with you. While the last two episodes did get better, the show had dug itself into a crater it couldn't get out of. My wife's take is that the show attracted more women to watch, and once they realized it, they felt they had to take it somewhere new. It felt as if the entire last episode was a closing montage, which was appropriate given the bloat of the entire season. About the only thing I really liked was the "So Long, Farewell" tribute the team gave Ted since he is the only coach in the world who appreciate it. Edit: Oh wait, seeing Sam in Nigerian green was pretty cool too. So weird. That is my favorite episode of the entire run and the only one I've gone back to watch as a stand-alone. I've been to a holiday dinner like the Higgins' hosted. Heck, I've even hosted one myself. They were probably the best Easter and Thanksgiving dinners I've ever had, and the show captured the serendipity better than any other attempt on screen.
This is one of the reasons why people theorize it is all part of a dream sequence. Also the extremely fake quality of Beard's Stonehenge wedding scene.
Speaking of which: Cristo Fernández’s interview on this last Saturday’s episode of MLS 360 is now available to view in MLS Season Pass. -G
Remember how Sam's exclusion happened...Akufo bribed the Nigerian federation. Since bribes are illegal, it's not like Akufo has a contract he can enforce. Also, Akufo isn't Nigerian (I believe he is Ghanaian.) Akufo blew up his own credibility and power within world football so it's not surprising the federation reneged on its side of the "deal." Brendan Hunt said it wasn't a dream sequence. It happening at Stonehenge was fan service, probably, and I'm OK with it.
Kansas hired that miracle worker in Lance Leipold. Fastest coach to 100 wins in NCAA history. Six DIII National Titles. KU went to a Bowl Game last year narrowly losing in OT to an SEC team. Things are looking up in Kansas
I think it's because the wedding party is standing in front of a green screen within the show. Though I climbed on the rocks back in 1974, no one can get close anymore. If one wants the Stonehenge vibe for a wedding, it's gonna be in front of a green screen.
I get why it looked fake but it looked obviously fake. My own personal experience in the moment was that it was CGI that had been rushed through. But then why did the edit needlessly linger on it? I didn't think the dream sequence explanation wasn't the worst one in the world but if Hunt himself denied it, it's probably just a fan theory.
Apple sent out some social media with a photo of Nick, Beard, and Roy putting the Believe sign back suggesting that’ll be season 4. Kinda makes sense…Sudeikis is much richer and a bigger star than those 3 and may want to do other things, plus his kids are a little older and going to England for several months to film every year may not be so appealing.
A sort of real life Ted Lasso https://theathletic.com/2092714/2020/10/04/chester-city-american-owners/
Very much unlike its first two seasons, the third and final season of Ted Lasso didn’t win any Emmy Awards today. -G
It shouldn't have, it was bloated and preachy in a way that the first two weren't. Still had a handful of really good episodes, but it was the weakest season by a lot.
I defended Season 3 for a long time, but Upon Further Review, it had far too much dross. The good stuff was still good, but the whole subplot of Keeley's PR agency plus her weird friend plus her lesbian girlfriend, what a ********ing waste of time. And Nate's story never made sense. Whenever they focused on AFC Richmond, it was still really good. They just didn't do that enough.
Several of the episodes were written by people who weren't part of the first two seasons. Episode 6, 11, and 12 were written by Sudeikis and Hunt and those felt the most like the show we all knew. Also, the really bad stuff was almost all around Keeley. She was a tremendous character the first two seasons and in season 3 I started to groan every time she was on screen. The final thing was the runtime. Season 1 had all the episodes between 29-33 minutes. Season 2 was 30-49 minutes, with the longer ones at the end of the season. Season 3 had a 44 minute episode as its shortest and 4 episodes were over an hour with the finale being 1:15. Season 3 was bloated. They could have done episode 1 & 2, then split episodes 6, 10, 11, and 12 (those are the 4 over an hour) each into two and had a good 12 episode season that cut out almost all of the nonsense that hurt the show.
Manfully admitted. I tried re-watching after Christmas -- my daughter still thinks that season 3 is "pretty good" -- but I just couldn't. Plus, for me, I think Zava is just as much dross as Keeley and Nate. Sam's restaurant could have been much more promising. Only story line I liked was Colin's. He's when the show felt like seasons 1 & 2. The Jamie/Roy love fest should have been 15 minutes, max.
That was a season two problem. They obviously always meant to redeem him but his behavior over the course of season two should have really made that impossible. If the end goal was redemption then his behavior should have been dialed down in terms of its egregiousness.
