Or just AFTER the window if Zlatan is still a free agent When SVP Will Kuntz was on the podcast, he told us that they can sign INTL Free Agents AFTER the window closes. So any player that doesn't have a contract after the summer transfer window closes is fair game!#LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/g3DRwgUZue— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) June 2, 2023
Why you messing up my funny??? J/k. I wonder if it means any out of contract INTL can play this season, or if it would be for next season.
Will was definitely talking about this season. So we can make deals within the league during the window, then sign any out of contract players (from anywhere) after the window, up until the roster freeze date.
Interesting. Did not know this and I'm guessing many of us here do not know this either. This changes things a lot.
I suspect it is hard to find good players out of contract after the transfer window closes. If they are any good they will get signed during the period when every team is competing against one another.
True, although it at least provides some flexibility. I wonder if a player could just make a handshake deal with the Gs to wait until after the window closes.
Is "out-of-contract" the same as "free transfer?" I doubt that it is. Zlatan would still need a transfer document unless his current team agrees to release him.
There are a number of notable free agents available right now. I don’t know if they will be available in August, but so far: 1) Isco 2) James Rodriguez 3) Lindgaard 4) Zlatan I’m sure the list will grow. I’m curious to see how Kuntz handles this. It’s totally a Galaxy move to go for one of these guys, but is it worth it?
I doubt Zlatan would come back to the Galaxy. Been there, done that. Plus with his name recognition he probably will get an obscene offer from the Saudis.
I would welcome him back with open arms, he is an entertainer and puts butts in the seats, however he had front row seats to this crap show, so I doubt he would comeback because as you mentioned he's been here and done that, and if I was him I don't want anymore of that
The one hope possibly is that he feels there is unfinished business in MLS. Haven't seen him play recently though. I'd assume the team defense would be even worse than it is now as I'd assume Zlatan would not be able to put in the same level of effort as Chich and Dejan. Also assume it'd be even less so than his first sting with the Gs.
unfortunately he only played 4 games this season due to injury as ages catches up to us all, I would still take a one legged Zlatan over whatever the Galaxy have now as DPs
and the dream is over Zlatan retires. https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/zla...nal-speech-after-ac-milan/blt1838d16f323ece49
I still can't believe Zlatan played for the Galaxy and what an entrance. It was a pleasure to have had him on the team.
For what it's worth, Guesman said on Corner of the Galaxy a few minutes ago that he heard the Galaxy did reach out to Zlatan and his reps before he retired to see if he would be interested in coming back for a last hurrah to finish the season.
Sad to see one of the greats hang up the boots. I will never forget what he came in here to do no matter how shitty our team was for his level of play the man provided some spectacular moments. All hail Zlatan.
The best player to have worn a Galaxy jersey - which is a saying something. Maybe the best player to have worn a jersey with the MLS logo on the sleeve. I daydream about a Donovan, Zlatan, Keane, Beckham front four.
