The second Seattle vs Portland game today has a goal. Thorns up 1-0 at halftime in front of a great crowd in Seattle.

Vegas takes game one 4-2 and crapweasel got booted early so it didn't turn into a dirty brawl the last 5 minutes.

I was rather shocked by this stat I saw on Wikipedia about the NLL.

Although ten of the fifteen teams are based in the U.S., less than 7% of players are Americans. About 83% are Canadians and 10% Iroquois from either Canada or the U.S.

Now I know that box lacrosse is a semi-popular sport in Canada but I always thought that it was more popular as a sport in the US because of the field version. Guess there must be a big difference between the field and box versions for that disparity.

My HS coach actively discouraged us playing box lacrosse. We still did it, but he tried to get us to not play.

The regular season is winding down in Serie A. The battle to avoid relegation may not be settled when all is said and done today. Spezia and Hellas Verona are tied on 31 points. Spezia is on a goal difference of -30; Hellas is at -26, but Spezia are ahead in the standings because it beat Hellas in head-to-head play this season (1 win, 1 draw). However, the Italians love a flair for the dramatic, and if both teams finish tied in the standings after the final whistles blow, both teams will play a winner-take-all match at a neutral site!

Spezia scored first at Roma to take a 1-0 lead, before ASR rallied to tie it at halftime.

AC Milan led Hellas Verona 1-0 for a very long time, before Hellas tied the match midway through the second half. That match is being played at the San Siro.

85th minute. Spezia and Roma still tied at 1-1. Milan have taken the lead on Hellas Verona, 2-1. For now, Spezia is safe and Verona will drop.

And now Spezia give up a PK to Roma! A foul in the box may have given Hellas Verona a lifeline. Foul in the box was legit. 89th minute...PK coming, and Spezia have been reduced to 10 men as well.

8 minutes stoppage time have now bled into 11 minutes in Rome! Hellas Verona have lost 2-1. 10-man Spezia still trail 2-1 and that will likely be the final score. Not exactly sure when or where the relegation one-off will be played. 13 minutes into stoppage time! This match is like never-ending Christmas...Finally!!! After 14+ minutes of stoppage time, Roma rally past Spezia, 2-1.

That's interesting. Most programs in CNY actively field Box teams and have programs in the long winter months to allow kids to hone their stick skills. It's been that way for at least the past 20-30 years too.

The Serie A relegation playoff between Spezia and Hellas Verona is scheduled for this Sunday, June 11th. The neutral site venue has yet to be determined at this time. Speculation has it being held in Emilia-Romagna, with Sassuolo, Parma, and Bologna being the most likely candidates.

The Serie B playoff final begins Thursday with Bari playing at Cagliari in the first leg. The second leg is Sunday in Bari.

Watching refs correctly penalize Crapweasel Tkachuk is extremely satisfying.

Reminded me of the IRL and CART again. At least this split didn't last long enough to destroy the sport like it did in open wheel racing in the US.
