Ukrainian-backed Russian fighters remain in the Russian town of Novaya Tavolzhanka and have taken POWs. The psychological impact of that is hard to overestimate. The governor has offered to meet them to take back the POWs, Prigozhin has also offered to send an aide.— Yaroslav Trofimov (@yarotrof) June 4, 2023
This so stupid I’m wondering if I’m missing something. Since 440 is more than 339, isn’t it inevitable that the unemployment rate would go up? Right? The same government report that announced 339,000 new jobs in May also announced 440,000 new unemployed persons, causing unemployment to rise from 3.4 to 3.7%. Since the labor participation rate did not change, both cannot be true.https://t.co/7efiqmbnUo— David Sacks (@DavidSacks) June 3, 2023 Let me know quickly enough so I can avoid embarrassment by deleting this post if I’m missing or misunderstanding a piece of the logic puzzle here.
This is a terrific thread, where the author continually cites issues where 60% or more of the people polled disagree with the standard Republican/conservative position. It gets to stop, stop, he’s already dead territory, which I liked. It is impossible to live in America and not have to hear right wing views or get 10K word, soft focus profiles of rural Republicans. And here's the kicker. Their views are statistically despised by between 2 in 3 and 3 in 4 of us, according to numerous public opinion polls.— Greg Fish (@GregAFish) June 3, 2023 But no. No one was visited by the blu-haired nonbinary Marxist Antifa fairy. We're just tired of right wing zealots forcing a very moderate 21st century nation with vast wealth to act like a 19th century Dickensian dystopia that quietly slips into a paranoid fascist dictatorship.— Greg Fish (@GregAFish) June 3, 2023 I mean, the vast majority of Americans want to be Canada with aircraft carriers and nukes, and the party that media execs like Licht keeps on shoving down our throats wants us to be a mashup of Russia and Saudi Arabia, and threatens us with violence when we don't see eye to eye.— Greg Fish (@GregAFish) June 3, 2023 That’s some solid prose right there.
Ron DeSantis cosplaying Churchill DeSantis: As president, I recognize that the woke mind virus represents a war on the truth so we will wage a war on the woke. Forget Trump for a second...it is just an insane strategy to fall into this sort of rhetorical rut when your ultimate goal is to beat the guy who casually incinerated the entire concept of "America's Mayor" with the line 'noun verb 9/11.' https://t.co/YHoiMSZSQX— zeddy (@Zeddary) June 4, 2023
James, you were in a movie where you had BDSM sex with a TV, and it was the best thing you ever did. https://t.co/25lQbBJX88— AdequateEmily (@AdequateEmily) June 3, 2023
On a scale from 1 to Liberace, how far does this ping your gaydar? pic.twitter.com/08DgSW5V9t— David Weigel (@daveweigel) June 3, 2023
He’s nowhere close to Liberace, but solidly into “but not that there’s anything wrong with that” territory.

Yeah, the participation rate isn't the rate of people employed, it's the number of people either employed or looking. So you can have people that used to be unemployed finding jobs, and people who were employed losing them. They can even be the same person if they lose a job and then find one quickly. If you have large numbers for both it means employers are churning, not something unmathematical is going on.
Just watched the 1973 movie The Laughing Policeman where they had a scene in a gay strip bar, and there were a hundred patrons looking just like that in there. So he's either 1973 gay or 2023 gay but is nostalgic for 1973.
It's not tech, it's a lot of people in STEM fields who have this attitude. I've met way too many engineers and such that act like this. And Twitter is full of them, too. Of course, the fact that these people (Musk and Dorsey) are rich as sin doesn't help, either.
And I also have recently seen the infamous short Scorpio Rising which was gay biker themed, but it depicted more an underground event and Pence's image has a different vibe. Can't say the short really held up. It certainly was influential, but now we've seen its tricks in a hundred movies made since then by better directors. The music choices were distractingly on-the-nose.
this was debunked. They are different survey data sets he is quoting so they don’t quite line up. In which I explain why @balajis and @DavidSacks are wrong, and the U.S. government's job numbers are not being faked:https://t.co/tozG38bT3N— Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦 (@Noahpinion) June 5, 2023
More on this. Sacks is trying to imply the numbers are bogus based on what he is hearing in the market. 1665542857191456769 is not a valid tweet id
I find this story perfect in so many ways The King James version of the Bible has been removed from all elementary and middle school libraries throughout Utah's Davis School District following a review of books for sexual content. An appeal was filed this week, and another review will take place. pic.twitter.com/hSRDrxuOQd— The Recount (@therecount) June 2, 2023
Sadly, NO lessons will be learned. It’s more likely the legislation will carve out some exceptions than ever admit it is stupid and wrong.
I assume it’s not the script for the musical… UPDATE(!): After removing the King James Bible from elementary/middle schools, Davis officials have confirmed that, following another complaint, the Book of Mormon is now under review. pic.twitter.com/tlhdwSiPix— The Recount (@therecount) June 5, 2023
Imagine if you destroyed 60% of your own revenues because you couldn't stop tweeting It may not turn around quickly either. This month, Twitter's own internal projections said US weekly ad revenue would be down at least 56% compared to last year. It's a tall order for new CEO @lindayacc who is expected to start her job today.https://t.co/JZvqs1Cps2— Ryan Mac 🙃 (@RMac18) June 5, 2023
