I see what you mean, and would probably agree that some tweaks would have improved the team, but I'd lean more on coaching, training, and tactical overhauls. On paper, this team is "good". In fact, some might say it's among the most talented squads of the entire tournament. For large swaths of the match, the individual technical rendimiento of our players was better than the Koreans. These players need coaches that can literally work miracles to get the best out of them. With kids so young, what separates the best from the rest of the pack is how rapidly they can develop in such a short time. I'm not saying Bravo was a bad coach, but he probably wasn't suited to truly lead this team....he was more of a babysitter. His demeanor was too calm, passive, and pensive. -Fragile egos...a good coach can remedy that -Erratic teamwork and a lack of focus...a good coach can fix it -Low energy...a good coach can reverse it This squad was suited to be led by someone who can rattle cages and force guys into line. There really was no excuse to lose yesterday if our team was firing on all cylinders, but it is what it is. Ultimately, we lost the mindset battle and as a result, we lost the match. The precedent was pretty clear: -Conceded a goal off a defensive lapse against the USA (We can't close out games) -Conceded the first goal against Slovakia (Poor start- had to chase the game) -Conceded 2 early goals in under 20 minutes against Korea (Nightmare start - had to chase the game) In Bravo's own words: “Contra equipos que son tan ordenados y defienden muy bien, las cosas se ponen cuesta arriba. Lo intentamos de todas las formas, pero estar dos veces en abajo en el marcador es algo muy complicado”.
I think the issue is that they’re too sobrados. It’s the only factor I can think of. Too much overconfidence gets to their heads. Do you guys know anything about this Yeboah kid?
I get it, but at the same time- sobrados doesn't mean go out and lose focus. Lots of big teams come in knowing they are better than their opposition and play accordingly. Oddly enough, when Ecuador happens to do the same thing, they lay an egg. Why is that? I think it's coaching. Humility doesn't win championships either- killer instincts do...and sound tactics. As a whole, we failed on both fronts, and most likely, it starts with the coach failing to channel egos and setting a path toward productive play getting the most out of everyone. I know nothing about Yeboah- I'm keen to learn more.
I hope FEF bring a good coach in for the next cycle. We had too much talent to not accompany a solid coach with. It sucks cause we were favored in this cycle. Yeboah was considered one of the next promises of German football. His dad is from Ghana, mom is Ecuadorian. A bunch of YT covered him when he was playing in the youth squads of Germany. The truth is that he will probably never play for Ecuador. He officially only hold German and Ghanian citizenship it seems like he doesnt know spanish or anything about Ecuador really. He has hit a couple of loan spells in his career. Right now he is playing in Poland and doing well so his current form is probably similar to that of Joel Valencia when he had his best season there.
Off topic. I guess the only places you can find ecua products easily it’s probably NYC or Miami but I just saw canned encebollado at a Bravo supermarket here in Orlando. I’ve had canned encebollado before and it’s not bad.
Nice find! I still usually bring back canned tuna from Ecuador because of the variety, but it is nice to see Bravo stores stocked up. I'll give a look to see if I can find encebollado here, too.
That is WILD....wow. Seems like he also has health issues. Nonetheless, the team didn't perform. We hate to see it happen, and I hope he can recover from whatever ailments he is facing.
Nuestros 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘀 🔥🫡 Ellos son los elegidos por el DT Félix Sánchez Bas para la doble fecha FIFA de Junio 💪 Tío @PilsenerEcuador a celebrar que regresa #LaTri#PiensaEnGrande🇪🇨 pic.twitter.com/FFbWvvsgwt— La Tri 🇪🇨 (@LaTri) June 5, 2023 Why is Arreaga still being called up? He doesn’t even start for his team.
I’m not sure the premier league would be a good fit for him. It’s a physical league and he can be injury prone.
That too, because I was at that friendly when he played and absolutely no one passed the ball to him and everyone around me noticed it too.also to pick up on a point borough up by LDU4ever ,that term “sobrado”and humildad get thrown around so much,it’s a detriment to our NT,in order to win titles you have to have a “sobrado”mentality and apply it,it’s what teams like Uruguay do,even if they’re limited they will come out thinking they’re better than you, that’s what our NT needs, the belief that we’re better.
I think I would like to see this as the XI for these friendlies. Starting XI: Ramirez, Hurtado, Pacho, Hincapie, Estupinan Franco, Caicedo, Cifuentes Plata, Campana, Enner 2nd Half: Galindez, Preciado, Torres, Arboleda, Palacios Gruezo, Alcivar Paez, Vite, Julio Campana
I like this line up,it gives our secondary forwards more time to jell with the team and gives new comers the chance to experience the NT
He seemed fine this season albeit I didn’t follow him much. I just remember he had that injury right before the WC.
According to Transfermrkt, Plata has suffered from 3 injuries this past year: -pulled hamstring at the abductors (March 2023) -hip problems (October 2022) -ankle problems (August 2022) The injury issue is generally recurring, but the issue doesn't seem terrible.
