US, Canadian, and Italian citizenship. Wow.

Ok…. Well, I would cap tie him immediately. Eustaquio is the only CM Canada has that is a guaranteed starter. Kaye and Osorio have regressed big time. Piette is barely and MLS starter, if he played for anyone other than Montreal he’d ride the pine and only play in emergencies. Hutchinson is a million years old. Can’t believe he’s still playing, Canadian shouldn’t be calling him up still.

I see no reason Morris would compete for s starting spot with Canada immediately. US needs to cap tie him ASAP.

With Morris having an EU passport, in makes moving to Europe easier as well. Better chance he moves knowing that now.

I know that Nordecke types don't give a fat Rat's ass what I think but I can't believe that there isn't some kind of song or something for Aiden Morris.

Even "One Aiden Morris there's only one Aiden Morris" wouldn't take much imagination

    David Beckham wouldn't mind.

Morris would already be a close starter for Canada already. He seems like the type that loves the challenge of competing and has a very Might Motor and high drive, which is one of the few reasons why he may continue to battle for a US spot, but the USMNT midfield is absolutely loaded. Wouldn’t fault him playing for Canada. I just hope he makes the decision that makes him the happiest.

People talk about the US midfield like it’s awesome, it’s not. We also need to remember that GB isn’t there any more. Who knows what the next guy will want.

Adams is a starter for sure, and he’s also injured a lot. Morris, while better as a defensive minded #8 and playing with a partner, could easily sub as a #6 for the US. The only other competition is Acosta, and he’s not all that.

McKennie probably starts, that’s fine. He’s had a few injuries as well.

If we play with three, the other option is….

Musah? He’s a poor man’s Nagbe, and Nagbe is a better player right now. Musah ain’t all that, I watch him week in week out at Valencia.

De La Torre? Tidy little player, but he’s hardly a guy you look at and think he’s essential.

Acosta? He’s ok for Gold Cup and whatnot, his time with the A team should be done now.

Mihailovic? I like him, doesn’t seem like any US coaches do though, he’s more of an attacking mid anyway.

Aaronson? He’s not really a CM.

If Morris continues to improve this season, I see no reason he’s couldn’t be in the mix for an A team callup. Maybe not as a starter, but as a bench guy.

Let’s also remember, that McKennie, Adams, and Aaronson all need to leave Leeds if they get relegated. Musah is almost certainly leaving Valencia. Those guys will all need time to sort out moves this summer, I wouldn’t be shocked if Hudson did what GB did last time and had two separate rosters. As much as Hudson has called up Morris recently, I could easily see him getting cap tied this summer.

A little more on Morris from The Athletic:

"The Athletic understands from sources who were briefed on the matter but were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly that Morris was targeted by Canada as far back as their pre-World Cup friendly against Bahrain in November. They were close to getting him to commit to the program then, but passport issues hampered the process."

This sucks. I can't blame him if his goal is to play in the WC. There's a 99% chance he makes the roster for Canada. Not sure what his chances are with the USMNT. Certainly not that high.

I just don't follow the USMNT with the interest I used to. And so, for me, hearing that he has an EU passport was what really jumped out. That really changes things when ti comes to his potential value as a transfer target, and makes his new contract with us that much more logical.

    @Kryptonite can verify that this:

Bill Archer and his anti-Canadian rhetoric | BigSoccer Forum

is actually fairly mild compared to some of the stuff they said at the time. Hilarious.

And the thought of that guy trying to find Moose Piss Saskatchewan in an Atlas still gives me the giggles.

(It didn't help much when I started using "Big Soccer should be ashamed that they allow that hack to continue writing his vitriolic garbage" as my sig.)

As a result I'm probably the wrong person to opine on Morris-to-America's Hat, but Jeez, talk about a loser move.

*sorry that the links to articles are no longer functional. They tried to erase me after I exposed the new owners for being useless soccer-hating shitbags.

US Soccer has no idea what Is good for American soccer, they're too busy playing a short game for cash.

At least they weren't around when Zak called everyone else a cockjuggling thundercunt.

TFC is a prime example of how to trade a season ticket waitlist for butter. What the hell they're doing with that butter, I'd rather NOT know, but I'm sure we can all imagine.

Could someone remind me of the origin of the "butter" joke? I know it was some kind of accidental spelling error, but where did it happen?

"We deserve better" was the original intent.

Spoiled Jackasses FC thought they deserved the golden calf, considering they were the newest team at one point.

Yeah, that's the obvious part. But where did we pull it from? Was it elsewhere on BS? Was it in-stadium whining they were doing? Some dopey open letter to the FO?

It's been so long, I know the joke better than I know the story.
