Well if he can get to his form pre-Chelsea he will be good enough to play for the NT .

As said prior there are only a few true CF in the game today and
Many NT teams have faired well in tourneys with 2nd rated strikers . Which at least at a minim he is .

Also want to see how Havertz develops . It’s time he steps up . Otherwise he will
Only be a substitute come WC

WOW - Big Kudos to Werner - he took a salary cut from 18 million Euros per year down to 10 million.

Happy to see for him it was about making the NT this year and not just about money - Big respect man

I expect Werner to be money smart and wisely invest the extra cash he made at Chelsea.

Looks like the Werner transfer fee was 20 million euros, which could reach up to around 30 mil based on performance based add ons

With Kai struggling right now, it's nice to see that at least Timo slowly but surely recapturing his old form just before the WC.

At this point all that matters is that Werner can deliver for the NT. It's not the first time we've seen players with dismal club form shine for their NT.

The whole team was horrible though, it is tough for strikers when that happens.

Werner looked set up to fail in Tedesco's archaic system. He was basically stationed out on the LW or left attacking midfield position the whole time he was on the field. Where he'll only be used to send in awkward crosses into the box

Andre Silva has been exposed after he joined Leipzig as not that great of a striker. He only excelled in Frankfurt's system, just like how Luka Jovic excelled there before crashing out when he joined Real Madrid

Werner played the best football of his career when he was part of a 2 striker up top striker formation. Yusuf Poulsen despite his limitations provided the physical and workhorse presence on the pitch to compliment Werner's game

Tedesco's slow moving possession play looks to also be clashing with how Leipzig's previous brand of fast paced gegenpressing ball

Solid first half vs Real Madrid yesterday. Leipzig held on alright until around the 80th min when the started conceding. A 0-1 loss probably would've been more indicative of the run of play, but they conceded a second one as well after in injury time

    https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...main-uncertain-timo-werner-future-postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou said Tottenham Hotspur are undecided whether to take up their option to sign Timo Werner after the winger's season was ended early due to injury.

Werner sustained a hamstring problem in Sunday's 3-2 home defeat to Arsenal and although he will not play again, sources have told ESPN the 28-year-old is expected to undergo further rehabilitation at Spurs rather than return immediately to his parent club, RB Leipzig.

Tottenham brought Werner to north London in January as part of a loan agreement which included an option to buy for a fee in the region of £15 million. He has registered two goals and three assists from 14 appearances, and although Postecoglou hailed Werner's positive impact at Spurs, the Australian insisted no final decision would be taken until after the season was over.

"The only reason for that is that it's not about the here and now, it's about the overall strategy," Postecoglou said. "I'm talking about where I want us to be [in the] next six months to be in a better place than today. Timo we signed until the end of the season on loan and he's part of that strategy to see what we need to do in the summer and can we do it.

"Are there going to be other gaps and where does Timo fit in with that strategy? So we have a plan in place, and that was irrespective. I think he's been very good for us. He came in at a really important time in January when Sonny [Son Heung-Min] was away [at the Asian Cup] , then Richy [Richarlison] got an injury.

"We were short in wide areas. Him coming in was very helpful for us and I think he's made an impact but in my mind to make those definitive decisions, I still need some clarity about what we've got here first."
