I think the first tiebreaker in La Liga is head to head points (followed by head to head goal difference), but I haven't been paying attention to who has an advantage over whom by that measure.

I found my own answer. I guess with multiple teams tied, they use a different tiebreaker.

Yup. Valencia is pretty much safe, not so Celta.

Wish my WhatsApp encrypted the texts I was getting right now. Yunas.

    Sigh.

Yikes comes in and gets a red card after 3min. Doesn’t look like Valencia will be relegated but if they did he’d probably need a police escort out.

    Valencia safe.

This summer will be one with a lot of open questions about Yunas at this point.

We can add "passionate" to his positive attributes.

Not the words I am reading. I feel for the kid. Hope this season didn’t crush him.

He'll get sold. Diego Lopez came in late in the season and created more offense in his few minutes than Yunus did in his.

Hopefully, Baraja is allowed to stay on and build his squad; however, Lim has to want to spend money for that to happen. And that isn't likely. He'll want his super agent buddy to get him a good price for Musah.

Musah honestly hasn’t shown enough to deserve a move to a bigger team or league. He might get one but another season in Spain might do him good.

He needs out of Valencia and quick. Was on his IG today and it must suck to get comments on every post about how you're terrible, shouldn't come back to the team, etc. Couple that with actual fan confrontations for Yunus this season (them towards him, not him towards them) and I've got to think it affected his play. Was just a bad, toxic season all around and I'm hopeful he can get some fresh air for next season.

All I will say is that they invested a lot of time in him. They had a lot of faith in him. They gave him a lot, and I mean a lot of chances. A lot. Fans were very forgiving for a long time.
    He shrunk.

Painful for me to say, but that is what happened. Sorry. It is.

Welcome to Euro football. i was always told by US fans they couldn’t wait for US players to be put under intense pressure overseas. Well, it seems to me that across this board many don’t like it.

Do I agree with it? No, but that is the way it is almost everywhere there. Welcome to wonderful enlightened Europe.

I would hope our players are more resilient so that mean tweets aren’t causing them to leave teams. If it’s hurting their feelings they should log out of the account for awhile.

I'm fine with the pressure and exposure and definitely agree...he (and we) mostly got what we wanted which was an extended run at his preferred position.

I don't think his value has been diminished greatly because at least some of the drop in form could be attributed to post WC hangover. Time will tell how quickly he can snap out of the haze but it IS unprecedented to deal with the mental/physical fatigue of a WC midseason.

Any potential suitors will weigh that possibility along with the hours of footage during the past few La Liga seasons to figure out whether he's worth the risk. My guess is they've seen enough to know whether they can polish him into a reliable starter for their club or not

    100%

Even when the hate spills offline (like getting confronted about his missed PK) it shouldn't make him wanna leave Valencia cause that can happen anywhere.

As long as fans don't resort to violent conduct or racist attacks then I feel like it's a level of pressure that comes with the job. Any serious MNT baller will have to embrace (endure?) that stuff

I tend to see a lot more personal viciousness in Europe. Yeah, it happens here, but not with the vitriol you can see from fans of many teams there. MO of course.

General feeling from my friends is that he will basically starting from scratch next year. The good will isn’t what it was. That is for certain. I se the word shrunk in my initial post because that is their general consensus. His play, involvement and activity stats down the stretch really can’t be argued. Some feel he has lost the trust of many of the vets.

He is in a real tough place right now.

I’m hoping that US Nat camp can be a reset for him mentally. I have not heard any rumors of what next years plans might be. It’s been an ugly last 3 months there for many reasons as we know. Here’s hoping the kid bounces back.

He really comes across as such a happy/good guy from those have met him. This had to be tough.

The basic problem is that now he can understand Spanish.

If I'm understanding you right, lemme clarify. I would be very surprised if mistreatment of Vini Jr by Valencia fans were enough to make Yunus transfer away. He grew up in Italy and UK...surely he's experienced racism before. If the threshold is merely seeing a fellow player in the same league targeted by racists, he'll have to quit the sport not just find another club/country.

If he himself were the target? Maybe I could see it affecting him more.

Yes, being a 20 year old away from friends and family while crowds of people call you racist names is a great way to build character. And the big bucks don't hurt either.
