I made an account here to defend Benzema in the Morata thread. Always loved his playing style and if I defended him the year he had like 10 goals all season imagine how much I like him now that on his off year this year he had like 30.

It's so weird to see this team we loved and gave us all this success over the years stop existing but that's life. Very happy that with the internet I was able to watch it through the years.

Good luck legend. Get some easy dough to ease your retirement - you deserve it!
I'll be honest and say that I was in the "pipita camp", but Karim surprised me by adapting to CR and a new position and even more surprised me when CR left when he took the reigns and just ********in scored endlessly.
    Good luck and God speed.

Nah I don't think he renewed. It's basically him leaving as a free agent if I'm not mistaken.

True. I remember being mocked for praising his linkup play. Oh, how far we have come...

Wasn’t a big fan earlier on, but as I’ve stayed here numerous times he won me over with his leadership and play after CR7 left. Really helped the club stay successful and move into its next phase with class. Big respect for Karim, guy evolved quite a lot since he arrived as a young gun. Salute to the legend and hope he enjoys his next adventure. Not too common for players at Madrid to last THIS long. I’m really amazed it was him who outlasted the other stars, but he deserves the legacy.

    Thanks Benz!

Regulars that praise Benzy now were mocking me on saying he's the perfect Robin to Cristiano's Batman.

It's okay people change opinion I don't want to tease anyone. Just saying sometimes you need to look further than numbers. Benzema didn't become world class after Cristiano left. He always was. He just became a scorer too after Cristiano left and did that because the team needed it.

He was part of the greatest Madrid side I’ve ever seen. And then continued to solidify his legacy for years after. Not many players can do that. We’ve seen some in our own team who basically call it quits once they’ve won the big one. We are very lucky to have this guy, I wish he would have seen out one more year like Modric.

9’s have to score goals not just link up play, now that Benz is moving on I’m sure no one would want us to get a 9 that just links play beautifully and that’s it, always loved his football enjoyed him way more when he added goals to that ( just like we all did with Vin), and lead the team after Ronaldo left, huge respect, I for one will miss him, just like I did Marcelo, in our team, but, we keep moving forward.

You're talking about the second all-time leader in goals who has 30 more than third place Raul in 94 less matches all while playing second fiddle to the highest goalscorer in Madrid history for mose of his career here.....

Yeah man, dude definitely didn't score enough and only linked the team.

Sometimes you should just not say anything man. Specifically when it comes to players you literally can't be objective with for some reason like Benzema.

He could have signed with Man United. Ferguson made a big push for him. At that time United were actually more competitive than us. But he said no and we signed the hottest young striker of that era. A truly unique player. It’s hard to find a comp. He’s just a footballer, positions don’t really matter when describing his style. His vision and IQ can be compared to anyone. Unselfish on the pitch even with all the talent and skill.

He has shown great loyalty to the club. Being a quiet and shy person he’s not much for interviews but he’s shown us who he is which is more than what words could tell us. Never caused any problems when it came to contracts and once he became a father he settled down nicely and became mature.

His legacy is safe and cemented. Whether it was luck or something else we have had the privilege to have gone through this era where we had so many players on our team who sincerely love the club. That’s not always the case and that matters to me. Marcelo, Luka , Karim, Casemiro are all amazing examples.

He will be missed. It will be weird seeing us play without him. Thank you Karim the dream.

"The internet is not the reality". smh.

I guess it was too much to expect that a footballer would refuse money. Apparently it would be dumb to do that, even if you're a multimillionaire who has his future secured a long time ago and whose personal vocation is not business but sport, with all the different values and principles between the two.

What is more interesting to me is this sentiment about how it is suddenly the right time for him to go to the Saudi retirement home, and thats what makes it different from mercenaries like Mbappe.

But, if thats the case, and in fact the key player that we relied on and believed in to repeat CL and La Liga the past season was actually Saudi league level, it means Florentino messed up big time, and the fanbase that wasn't aware of this (myself included) has been brainwashed.

But of course we know by now I'm a certified idiot, so hoping that the Madrid captain and current BDO holder can stand up and tell the people who became gods through corruption, exploitation and environmental destruction to feck off because he still wants to win, was obviously something an idiot would hope for.

Going further from simple footballing reasons is even more laughable.

I mean, why would the official best player in the world captaining the official best club in the world, a role model of millions of young people in the world, even consider how he is involved and contributing in issues like extreme inequality or climate collapse? Just get the bag bro. Thats the objective of the game. Use that bag to buy some more cars and palaces. You can never have enough of them.

At least we still have Vinicius to cheer for leading the anti racism campaign, in order to feel good and smart being on the right side. That power relations and the material dialectics in which the former are situated drive the whole racism issue, thats just too much to think about. As long as the money machine keeps pumping and the cancerous neoliberal logic of maximization is accepted as "culture", within this framework we can stand up for anything. But only within the framework.

As a player Benzema was different. I believe he still is. But he's still just a player. Not different from the rest of a very ********ed up world.

Thanks. Also for the great example of why would you need money when you can live rent free.

It seems surreal to me that I'll never see him in our 11 again. What a great career. Thanks for everything King Karim.

I think the part thats a bit bittersweet to me is that I genuinely think he has a bit left in the tank to contribute to the squad whether its as a starter or rotating with someone.

By choosing to leave at this stage, here will always be that "What if". But at the same time, major respect for him not overstaying thus ruining his reputation. He is leaving with his head held high through the front door.

Why do you get to decide his future? Did you ever consider maybe he wants to move to Saudi Arabia for religious and cultural reasons [as well as the money - any sane person would take that money]? What does Benzema have to prove by staying in Madrid for 1 more season?

He HAS won and done it all. Give him a break.

I bet when Messi goes to al-Hilal next week you won't be as spiteful, because 'he deserves it'.

The greatest striker we have ever had ,he surprassed Di Stefano and Raul.

The goals, the assists, the technical ability, the tropheis, the greatest Champiosn league we have ever won last year, the Balon Dor.....no striker is going to surprased him not even Mbappe or Haaland if they come ,he achived too much.

First, I hold Benzema to higher standards than the midget.

Second, he could have left years ago, and you could still say that he won it all and went for a new challenge. However this isn't a challenge.

What can he prove here you ask? IMO Benzema can easily move up from where he sits in ATG rankings because this is where additional accolades make a difference compared to other greats. Another Liga/CL/Pichichi/longetivity record? He climbs up the list. This is what Cristiano wanted, but he had to face reality that hes finished. We have an even better example of what "finished" looks like with Hazard on the team. Is Benzema finished? When you look at them two and then you look at him, one is different than the two.

So lets call spade a spade. He went for unreal amount of money. And this is one of my biggest issues: its literally unreal, in the sense that its just so much to the point that it loses meaning. You can't even count it or know what to do with it. For a multimillionaire footballer who loves the game and the success and the glory, unreal money shouldn't be the deciding factor. Especially not when hes still at Madrid level. Or isn't he?

Of course, hes free to decide his future, but I'm free to have a negative opinion on that decision. Just as I was disappointed from Mbappe's decision, I am now from Benzema's.
