Sort of a fluke goal for Celta. But they're not totally undeserving of this, after their terrible start where Barca should have been up 2 or 3. They didn't take advantage, and Celta's out-played them since.
Celta going defensive to try and shut this down. Includes bringing LDLT off. Decent game for him though.
Was a sweet little play by LDLT to let the ball run through on the goal. Allow me to sum up: * that matters - advantage Celta * that doesn't matter - advantage Barca Celta outshooting Barca 8-1, outscoring them 2-0. And they're even on disallowed goals. But hey, Barca's got 70% possession. I'm sure that's as much consolation for Barca as it is for Mexico every time they lose to us
Barca had a bunch of big chances early in the game - Kessie's point blank header, the borderline offside chalking off a goal, Raphina w/ the open net, etc. I think Lewa had another big one, as well as hit the post. As I said, since Celta took advantage, and had the advantage. That's football, or sport a lot of time, as the adage goes. You don't take advantage of your opportunities and it allows the other team to feel like they're playing w/ house $. Then they turn the momentum. And as Suyuntuy rightly pointed out, Barca didn't have much to play for, so are playing in spurts.
After the Espanyol win with the title secured Barcelona went on vacation. They beat Mallorca as a gesture to their fans at home.
LDLT started as the left midfielder in their 4-4-2. Trailing 1-0 - Cross by Luca's man. He challenged it hard, and blocked a first effort, but turns into a great cross headed home well.
LDLT with a very good steal and thirty yard vertical dribble, then feeds Mingueza, which could theoretically have been a good idea if he wasn't slow.
84th minute triple sub and LDLT is one of those who come off. Still chasing an equalizer. OK performance from him.
Lost 1-0 Decent game from Luca. Slid inside after starting the match on the right of a 4-4-2. Some good touches, some decent passing that created two chances and several important recoveries. He did have some fault in the goal for Sociedad as he maybe didn’t pick up a back door runner who nodded home a cross. Overall a decent match but I want to see him on the ball more. I bet he had 40ish touches in 85 minutes. He’s effective when he has the ball, he just needs to demand it.
Still 0–0 at the half. LDLT looks active and running hard, but not really involved in any dangerous moves on offense or any key defensive stops.
He's basically blocking the Tchou-Cama line and passing it back to his defenders in the rare occasions he actually has the ball long enough. I know it sounds weak, but it's a tough job, and he's managed to do it so far.
Luca reinforcing that left side to release Bamba is working well. Celta has a problem on their right though.
