Nojima managed to equalise through a penalty from Ohga. The penalty was a penalty, which means it is 1-1 in Sendai. Pretty even game with Sendai just edging it. Nojima are playing much better football. The played quite well last week, but so far this week they have looked even better. Nojima are actually really fun to watch when they start linking some of their passes together. The key today is they are actually getting the ball forward into Sendai's penalty box. It is really nice to see. Hirosawa on the left for Sendai has looked good today, though she did give away the penalty. I imagine Sendai will find a way to win in the second half.
Ends in a draw in Sendai. Sendai had more of the ball in the second half, but at least when Nojima did get the ball and go forward they played the ball into Sendai's penalty box a lot more. Nojima just looked a lot more dangerous today than they have in many, many weeks. A draw is a fair result in my opinion. Miyazawa played well in midfield with Nakajima for Sendai. I do think that Miyazawa drops way too deep for them, but I guess that is what the manager wants. I just think with her and Matsukubo up top for Sendai they could be a truly formidable forward pair. I liked the eighteen year old left-winger Sasaki. Still very green, but an interesting player. Fujiwara was probably Nojima's best player today. She has been the most consistant in midfield this year for them. Also Matsumoto on the right-wing for Nojima had a good contest with Hirosawa. I will probably watch the Elfen vs Regina game, though I imagine the Beleza vs Nagano game is the most entertaining.
WE League F.T....Urawa (Naomoto Shimada Seike (2) 4-0 Omiya Comfortable win for the Reds but the crowd had to wait 84 mins before they were treated to the obligatory theatricals from the player in the #8 shirt.
Today's result: WE League Mynavi (Miyazawa) 1-1 Nojima (Ohga) Urawa (Naomoto, Shimada, Seike 2) 4-0 Ohmiya Regina (OG) 1-0 Chifure Beleza (Fujino 2, Kobayashii) 3-3 Magano (Takizawa, Ueda, Suzuki) Nadeshiko League 2 DR Hiroshima 0-12 Viama (Saito 3, Sakamot 2, Nagano, Kakazu, Okano, Sakata 2, Shimada, Nishiyama)
I just watched the second half of the Regina versus Elfen game and it was not pretty. But in the end Regina got the win through some nice play from Nakashima, which resulted in an own goal. To be honest Elfen had some good chances saved by the Regina keeper Konomi who has been quite bad this season, so it was a good game for her. The depth that Regina have going forward and in midfield is quite impressive and they should be in the top five in the league, but their defence is slow. Obviously the new manager bounce did not happen for Elfen. I do think that they have to be a bit more tactically smart. I think part of the reason Tanabe was "resigned" was due to their tactical naivety at times. The 9-0 loss to Beleza was a good example of that. Today they waited to move Yoshida to striker until the 70th minute. Once they did this they created some really good chances because they started playing more direct and her speed put Goya and Sayama under pressure. They should have started her there today, because she is so much faster than Hiroshima's defenders. It looks like I was right about the Beleza vs Nagano game. This could be a very bold statement, but if Beleza lose Fujino next year I can see them struggling to make the top three.
Tomorrow's games: WE League Jef vs Inac 13:00 Nadeshiko League 2 JFA vs V Mie 11:00 NORD vs Fujizakura 13:00 Kibi vs Tsukuba 13:00 Anclas vs Belle 13:00
INAC leads one goal to nil in Chiba; Narumiya made a nice finish. I often say this, but it has been a pretty even game with Chiba probably creating the better chances to score. Chiba look very dangerous on the short counter. I think when INAC are playing out from the back their midfield is too spread out. Either Takase or Narumiya have to drop a little deeper and help Itoh or I can see Chiba getting a goal on the short-counter. Having said that of course their first goal probably would not have happened if Narumiya had dropped deep to get the ball. Miyake is not playing today. I watched the game from the one minute mark, and the commentator has said nothing regarding her absence.
No change to the score in the second half in Chiba. INAC were much better in the second half and played a lot of the it in Chiba's half of the pitch. Chiba were still dangerous in attack, but fatigue and INAC's possession nullified the number of attacks they had. Miki Itoh was very good today for INAC. She controlled a lot of their play and worked incredibly hard. Tanaka, despite not scoring was very good though I do think she should not be the one dropping so deep. Takashige was also exceptional in defence. She marked Kamogawa very closely and made some key interceptions. She has had a poor season compared to last season, but I still think she has tremendous potential. Kishikawa was good in midfield qirh Imai for Chiba. Kamogawa was marked very tightly, but was still dangerous and created some good chances in the first half. Chiba's season is over now, so the worse they can finish is ninth. It is probably a season to remember, but they have finished it very well. They have a pretty good team and if they can stay injury free I imagine they can finish in the top half of the table next season. Of course will they be able to retain all their players? I can see a team like Urawa coming in for Chiba, but we will have to wait and see.
Today's result: WE League Jef 0-1 Inac (Narumiya) Nadeshiko League 2 JFA (Matsui) 1-0 V Mie Kibi (Furutani, Iwata) 2-1 Tsukuba (Akamine) Anclas 0-3 Belle (Toriumi Yokoyama 2) NORD 0-1 Fujizakura (Suzuki)
Kumi Yokoyama this time scored a brace, but Yuma Saito scored an hat-trick (in a 0-12 win! ): so Yokoyama has now 11 goals in 10 match-days (more than one per game), but Saito has 18 (almost two per game)! And Via Materasu has a goal difference of +40! Looks like a different category. Meanwhile, Norddea Hokkaido could have grabbed a draw, but the opponents scored their lonely goal at 85'.

Roma lost the final of Coppa Italia vs Juventus by 1-0 in the dying minutes of the game. Moeka Minami didn't start and was only subbed-in at 76' (you can see a cross from her in highlights):
I guess we know why she was in Italy. I’m quite surprised to be honest. 👋 Welcome to Roma, Saki Kumagai! 🇯🇵The highly-rated Japanese midfielder joins the Giallorosse! 🐺#ASRomaWomen #ASRoma pic.twitter.com/ZLSPqAf0gT— AS Roma Women 🇮🇹 (@ASRomaWomen) June 5, 2023
In less exciting news Nojima’s Arisa Matsubara is retiring after this season, so is Nagano’s Moe Kimotsuki. Both important players for their respective teams.
I am a little more than just "surprised": I am stunned! Well, it looks like I will have to plan some trips in Rome, next season. By the way... so do you think that the fact that Mana Iwabuchi was also in Italy could mean that...?
