It's well-deserved. He turns 26 in December, at which point he'll have another half-dozen (and hopefully more) UEFA games against quality opposition under his belt.

Show what we believe he's capable of and the EPL bids will come.

BTW Transfermarkt has him down as returning from rehab on July 34th.

Just in time for the start of pre-season

Seems hoops kinda missed him today. He has been very important to them this year.

I’m pretty sure he will be sold.

I wouldn’t be too sure of that. This is the best Celtic side I’ve seen in the last 10 years. It’s a quality side with some actual transfer value. There are a couple of players - CCV included - that could fetch upwards of $10M. However, that doesn’t mean Celtic will sell now. I have a feeling they want to keep this team intact and put some resources towards improving on a massively disappointing European campaign over the last 7-8 years. I think there is going to be a push and lots of pressure on Postecoglou to make Europe a little bit more of a priority. My gut feeling is Celtic will keep this team intact this summer and if they are bounced from Europe by Christmas, you’ll see the likes of CCV, Jota, Furuhashi, Hatate, Maeda, and O’Rilley slowly sold off in Jan or summer of ‘24.

Celtic, and those players, would be wise to take that route. If a bog-standard Rangers side can reach and EL final, there's no reason why a far superior Celtic can't do something similar either: they weren't disgraced in the CL last winter, just not ruthless enough when it counted and lacking in experience. They'll be a lot more streetwise this time around.

Imagine the difference an EL final run or getting out of the CL group stages will do for those players' transfer values, with follow-on consequences for their salaries.

Celtic currently lead in their final league match of the season. They have 1 last match, the Scottish Cup final on June 3, against Inverness that CCV will also miss out on.

Cameron Carter-Vickers in the 2022-23 season:

-39 matches played (all starts) and 1 goal
-Won the Scottish Premiership and League Cup, with the Scottish Cup TBD.
-a very solid start against Iran at the World Cup (one of the rare US players with a positive +/- at a World Cup)

I'm not exactly a fan of US players going to the Scottish Premiership, but CCV is an exception. I think it is much better for him to continue at Celtic after his nomadic existence in the English Championship. Unless a big club comes calling, he should stay in Scotland for at least a few more seasons.

Posty supposedly going to Spurs. Ultimate plot twist: Spurs buy CC-V back! lol.

Transfer news has become click bate-ish, so now I don’t pay much attention to it. CCV will probably stay at Celtic. I think they might just start making better runs in the champions league soon.

Yeah, if they get a lucky draw they just might be able to eek out a 3rd place finish in the group stage and transfer to the Europa League!

Depends on who's coaching them. If Postecoglou stays, I'd put some money on it happening. Not a lot, but some.

I mean, Stephen Gerard got Rangers out of the EL group stages. Twice.

Be pretty surprised if Posty stays. Can't imagine why he would after this season. He can't really rise his stock that much with another year of Hoops. I guess if he really exceeded expectations in Europe, but that's a pretty capricious event to roll the dice on.

Yeah, I noted that. My guess is he strikes while the iron is hot, but I certainly have no inside info. Celtic had RM and RBL under Post and got roundly spanked and won 0 games. Does he really think they're going to make additions that will seriously improve his chances against Europe's top clubs? Suppose it depends what the offers are, but Spurs, for instance, have a shot at Europe and a chance to actually compete were they to make it. Do you risk your high profile this year on another Celtic season? Dunno, but my guess is he won't - but we'll see. I'm just a rando on BS.

The premier league has to have had the most managerial changes in managerial this last season. Who wants that kind of pressure. Then again if he leaves then Brenden Rodgers could always come back.

Yeah, no one wants to manage in the EPL. It attracts no talent...

Assuming CCV stays at Celtic, word on streets is that the club’s top two candidates to replace Postecoglou are Mumbai City’s young, supposed phenom 38-year yr old Des Buckingham or Bodø/Glimt’s 54-year old Kjetil Knutsen. I confess I don’t know much about Buckingham other than the City Group hold him in high regards. With that said, I’m really intrigued by Knutsen. He’s been lauded for his attractive attacking football and his teams have performed well in Europe even beating Celtic. His style would compliment the current players at Celtic. He’s very Postcoglou-like.

It's a good style until they have to play better teams. Real put 8 past them and Leipzig 5.

I guess Posty made the shocking decision to brave the unfaceable pressures of the EPL...

Will be interesting to see how he fares. Spurs always seem to be underperformers and overexpectationers.

15, not counting interims and caretakers.

    La Liga had 11, Bundesliga 9, Serie A 8.

Personally I'd go just for the near-guarantee of a killer severance package within a year.

It's definitely a Premier League record (apparently 5 more managerial changes than the next highest season). Here's an article from a couple months ago when the number was still only 13.

    https://www.premierleague.com/news/3134425

The departures of Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City and Graham Potter at Chelsea, both on Sunday, brought the number of managerial changes at Premier League clubs this season to a record high of 13.

This is three more than the next-highest number of changes in a Premier League season, when 10 managers lost their jobs in 2013/14, 2017/18 and 2021/22.

I suspect it's also probably the most of any major football league ever, but that's going to be harder to verify.

I bet Liga MX, Brasileiro Serie A, and Argentina Primera Division rivals the Premier League. It seems like every week a manager is fired in those leagues. Very high turnover rate. Some clubs go through 2 or 3 a season!

I think agents and clubs use the click bait as well to gauge moves and test the market etc....I think there's actually a reason beyond the generation of clicks for media benefit
