Feel free to address me directly. I said pretty clearly that I only caught the last 20 minutes or so and only addressed those minutes that I watched. I would say it was an accurate observation for that short snippet of the game.
Now we at least know how to play Brasil - high press. We've demonstrated the capability at the front & in mf, don't know about the back w/ Craig there. They're beatable. I just worry how much they're in our heads at this point. To wit, I'd still much rather play Israel. I thought you might have me on ignore after that last exchange. I watched that period too, and it's not remotely true then. Israel were pressing and Brasil couldn't play thru it. That's not controlling anything. And Turgemon especially was regularly barging thru w/ chances. Meanwhile, Brasil wasn't creating much of their own.
It takes a lot for me to put someone on ignore When I started watching, Israel wasn't pressing, I specifically remember their forward dropping off and just walking/jogging while Brazil were passing around the back. It appeared to me as though he was conserving energy. its possible if you watched the whole half that portion may not have stood out to you. But that's just where I came into the game.
That's as Brasil of a goal as you're going to see. Flicks and kicks. And it's exhibit A of why they're an opponent I don't want to see. Edit: But Israel comes right back again, like last time.
This Israel team notably beat France in the semis of the UEFA U19 championships (which was the qualifying tournament for Europe).
Yep, I'm trying to figure out what the heck Israel is, but they were in one of the two toughest groups made it out, qualifying the real way unlike Slovakia (getting free passes through hosting duties) and beat France (was it their A side? I'd imagine so as the game was in June '22), lost to England but only after extra time, they drew England in regulation so..... I think Israel is really freaking good. Would be awesome if they could pull this off. Unfortunately I don't know at this point who I'd prefer if we win tomorrow.
I don’t know what it is….but I hate Brazil…at all levels. If there was a Brazilian U6 national team…I’d hate them too.
Israel winning this match is the upset of the tournament, arguably one of the greatest upsets in soccer.
