🚨 Arsenal make breakthrough in contract talks with Reiss Nelson, who is now expected to stay and sign a new deal. https://t.co/iTw1gSIzFi— Sami Mokbel (@SamiMokbel81_DM) June 2, 2023
The Rice situation with Bayern is interesting. German sources are claiming that Rice told Tuchel that he would be interested in joining Bayern. English sources claim that Rice is very reluctant to leave England.
Eh? no chance tuchel is the only adult left in the room after the sackings. No chance he gets fired. They are trying to find a new sporting director to replace brazzo
Liverpool fixing to finalize Mac Allister. Seeing reports that he had a release clause below the 60-65m fee that was rumored.
Kind of surprised Arsenal hasn't made a push for Mac Allister or Mount with Xhaka leaving. Maybe the plan is Rice as left 8 against stronger sides, with Partey/Jorginho as 6. And Rice as 6 against weaker sides with Vieira/ESR/new signing at left 8. Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudos seems like possibilities there. The step up from the Eredivisie is a pretty big one, and while Simons and Kudos have been brilliant this season, neither has much of a track record before. Kind of the same pattern of Vieira, he hadn't done much in Portugal and it's been a huge step up for him. With ESR, can he stay healthy? I do like that Simons and Kudos can play other positions.
He wasn’t elite and he makes a lot of money in China. Nothing is wrong with that, most of us would do the same. https://www.theguardian.com/football/copa90/2017/oct/12/oscar-football-money-china-shanghai
The Chinese Super League is kind of a mess after those couple windows of splashing cash a few years ago. Guangzhou Evergrande won 8 titles between 2011 and 2019, they've been relegated after Evergrande's financial crisis. Jiangsu Suning won the league in 2020, they no longer exist. There are now restrictions on how much clubs can spend on foreign player transfers and wages.
A big part of Vieira’s struggles adapting to the premier league has been the physical nature of the league. Both Simons and Kudos are taller and more robust than Vieira and while that doesn’t guarantee they will successfully adapt to the league, it is one less hurdle. Re track records, given that Simons is only 20, I’d be surprised if he had much of a track record,
Is Mac Allister actually good or just another guy who played well in a mediocre quality summer tourney like Owen Hargreaves?
I've felt that if Vieira was truly elite, even if he was physically underdeveloped, Porto would have played him more in his age 19 and 20 seasons. Kudus was mostly a sub prior to Qatar, Simons only played 134 minutes at PSG before going to PSV. I like both as prospects, Kudus has a lot of Saka in his game and Simons is really explosive, but it's too much IMO to expect either one to step into the left 8 role in the PL and contribute right away.
Going into the WC, he had 5 goals for Brighton, going 90 every match, and was valued at €32m on transfermarkt. I don't think he's a fluke, but the WC definitely boosted an already rising profile.
Here’s a thought … There’s no football for about 6 weeks after the CL Final so all we have is fecking transfer rumours !!
In the 2021-22 season Kudus suffered two separate injuries that sidelined him for approximately half the season, an ankle injury in preseason that kept him out until late September and an injury on international duty in November that kept him out for three months. When he returned he was mostly used as a sub. That caution with his playing time seemed to extend into the first half of this season.
