When you look at all our injury problems no doubt we would've been better off with Zaniolo on the squad. He and/or his agent just left us in a crappy situation.

I may sound like a broken record, but I need to get it off my chest. Capello stated in 2003 that it's impossible to compete in two major competitions with a thin squad and no backup options. This statement is applicable to the current Roma team, and Mourinho, with all due respect, is partially responsible for this. Both Sevilla and Lazio, despite having thin squads, made wise decisions by prioritizing one competition over the other. The irony is that both of them will play in the Champions League next season. Personally, I would rather secure a top-4 spot than place all my hopes on winning a final that could go either way. Consider the number of players we have lost due to injuries from playing mid-week Europa League matches while simultaneously fighting for a top-4 spot in Serie A. Last year, we got away with this by winning the Conference League final. (still no CL) However, this season presented a different scenario. Let's face it, if we hadn't benched our key players to rest them for mid-week matches, we would have comfortably secured a place in the Champions League.
Sorry bro but thats not making sense. Sevilla dont have depth in their squad? What competition did Sevilla priortise? Are you saying they finished so poorly in the league because they focused on Europe from the start? Thats a no. And Lazio again as your example. You made this claim at the time but it was false. Lazio put out a good team against AZ. They wanted to win but got beat home and away, fair and square. They tried to win as the stats show. It wasn't a case of them going out and seeing out the 90 mins. I showed you that at the time when you first said this. Its easy to look back now and make points to suit what you want to say but the reality is when you are living the moment and you have a quarter-final to play etc, you cant start to think we need to give up on this because of pressures from the board and potentially losing the fans support. He had to try and juggle it. The only way you could blame Jose and staff fairly now is to say they should have made this decision in the summer right from the off but the EL is still a prestigious cup to play for. It was a step forward and hard to just give up on. Going ahead, the best thing in the long term is to let Spezia get their points, drop down to the conference league and hope UEFA dont kick Juve out of Europe. Rested during the week and play kids in the conference league could see a league position bigger than we imagine possible. If they get into the EL and this same pattern repeats next year with an injury collapse then they would deserve all the criticism coming their way.
I think Mou had to pick one. IMO he would have priotized Europa if Juve never had the point deduction. He would have saved Dybala and Co for Europa.
We fought on both fronts admirably given our issues with injuries and the patchy XI's we had to put out in the last couple months. We came so close to what would have been a brilliant season. I'm proud of the boys efforts. They deserve nothing but praise. To think otherwise is simply being woefully unfair.
Well, something has to be done with these referees, If the leagues and UEFA don't do anything about it then the fans will, pretty simple really. Maybe next time don't bring your family along if your plans are to be the one of the biggest pieces of shit referees during a final. Unbelievable that this crap continues to be allowed with no reprocussions.
It continues to be allowed because it serves a purpose. EUFA, FIFA and the local leagues have their darling teams, or teams backed by strong political or business interests, or both, and it's not about fairness, but about favoritism and nepotism. The fact that Roma and Liverpool were able to sell tickets for their CL 1/2 final one day before the draw tells you enough really. It's not sports merit, but business merit that decides things.
After Feyenoord, Paulo Dybala has hit out at Bayer Leverkusen for their bitter reaction to the Europa League semi-final elimination to Roma. ‘They had 180 minutes to score a goal and didn’t manage.’ https://t.co/QKO9yin52z #ASRoma #B04 #Feyenoord #UEL— Football Italia (@footballitalia) June 3, 2023

There really is a witch hunt for Mourinho, and I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it with my own eyes
UEFA ponder suspension for Anthony Taylor https://t.co/6NWK9GIWFG— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) June 4, 2023 Instead of being reactive how about being proactive and getting a better ref. Who gives a ******** now.
Man, we need a court that could arbitrate between clubs and UEFA when EUFA shits the bed. If they can fine Roma for their arbitrary FFP rules, but Roma doesn't have a govering body that could reinburse them for damages and losses due to poorly judged final, how is that fair... Say one things about the Super League - it would've meant these corrupt bitches from EUFA would've lost a lot of their revenue and pedigree that enables them to be such cunts. And to think that Friedkin stood with them when their darling FFP-protected clubs tried to fluke. ******** EUFA and the corrupt bastards running football. In the next battle between EUFA and the Super League, I'll be rooting for the latter. It's not like we could be more screwed under the new system, and Serie A and UEFA might start appreciating the non-uber-rich clubs a tad more after and stop with these blatant refereeing bs.
This started last year in the league when there was about 10 strange calls in a row mid season that stopped the momentum in the league. Of course, his mouth runs him into more bother but is he wrong for pointing out the corruption?
Many like to say my style is outdated or cowardly. How many have my title record? That is all for today.
At the end of the day, making an attempt to win the Europa League takes ********ing balls. It didn't go your way - it happens like that sometimes - but think about all the other pathetic showings in the Europa League by Italian teams before you. Practically all of them are peasants in the European game simply because they don't want to risk anything. For all of Jose's faults, at least the guy ********ing tries to go for it, even if it means gambling on the regular season (its always a gamble when almost half of your 20-man roster is virtually unplayable).
