Good to see him get some much-deserved financial security, especially with his injury history.

Earned it. Well done to Marlon. A wonderful season and one to build on. Another strong season and next season he’ll have some suitors from other leagues.

Fossey will have a new manager next season. Ronny Deila (and assistant Efrain Juarez) has left Standard for Club Brugge. It’s been rumored for a few weeks and now it’s official. Just reading comments on Twitter, some Standard pissed he’s leaving and some are happy. Club Brugge fans seem happy. Fossey just signed a new contact and had an excellent season. No reason to think a new manager won’t see his quality and importance to Standard.

In the interim, Geoffrey Valenne will take over for the last two playoff matches. They should give Marsch a call. ;)

Not to stir the pot too much, but I think that Marsch would actually do pretty well at Standard. This was a move that was pretty much a given once it hit the rumor mill. Deila wanted more money to push for the league title and European spots. He did a great job at Standard without a true striker. Good luck to him. I think that Fossey will be fine.

Same. That’s why I mentioned him. But I doubt his ego would let him take a job at Standard. I could be wrong. I hope I am. They are owned by US consortium, right?

Fossey was not on the bench for a listless 0-4 drubbiing by Circle Brugge.

Fossey came off in the 81'. Team lost 3-1. Not a real surprise. Good season by Fossey. He established himself as an important member of the team. Lets hope the new manager can build on this season.

Rather a long deal. Liege obviously value him and expect him to improve, bringing a decent transfer fee.

the omission of players like him for some of the names actually called is a travesty, imo

Fossey has a new head coach, Carl Hoefkens, the former Club Brugge manager.

As you can tell it is a screen shot from the highlights, but the fact that both players are in the air is pretty nice.

It appears that Fossey played really well against AZ and someone was watching. Stade Rennes sporting director was at the match and spoke with Fossey after it. Here is the article, which references another article that is partially behand a pay wall.

quite striking how a lot of american players in the UK cant make the pitch but as soon as they leave to leagues like belgium and netherlands they are some of the best on their teams.

I really dislike it when young unproven yanks go to England...it's such a ruthless meat grinder.

Yep. And while the EPL is better than the other leagues, it’s not so much better that it’s worth all of that difficulty. It would be very cool to see fossey become a good player somewhere like France.
