Isn’t it always difficult to see what’s happening at the opposite end when you’re sitting close to the field on an end line? That’s why those seats are generally cheaper (and why I always sit higher).

In soccer the stands at each end tend to be steeper. Yes it can be hard to see if you're low down, not too bad if you're higher up.

    Maybe it's just me.

I’m not seeing much difference in your chosen pictures… it may just be you. I’ve sat on that end line and the view was no better, or worse, than any other SSS I’ve sat in.

I think the pictures shown by Paul Berry look different because:

    A) The photo from St. Louis shows many supporters behind the goal at the far end of the field. They are wearing red or blue shirts and make the goal frame stand out more.
    B) The San Diego photo does not have as many fans behind the goal on the far end of the pitch. Also, the background seating that's open are gray seats, so the goal frame does not stand out as much?

That's the only thing I can distinguish that might be a reason for the differences.

The angle of the seats is different in each photo. The phot from snapdragon has a more gradual angle. Whereas the seats in St Louis are at a smaller angle, and therefore steeper.

Philly's Subaru Park is a great example. I've had seats in each endline. in the endline opposite the Supporters Section the seats go all the way to practically on the field. I used to have front row seats, also was third row for a season. Which were great when the action was in that third of the field. however, they weren't great when the action was elsewhere. Contrast those seats to my current seats in the Supporters Section. Those seats are just as close to the action (7 rows up), however, they are at a steeper angle and are also raised up above field level. I get a much better view of the entire field from the Supporters Section than I ever did in the other end.

Is there a mid section change at St Louis in the angle? Looking at the railings the angle actually seems steeper in SD. Looking at the goal itself it looks to line up with the penalty box almost perfectly in both so just not seeing any difference in angle. Having been to games at Snapdragon it’s very steep in most areas (so much so that the upper deck actually frightens my wife).

I prefer to sit high up on one end. From the expensive seats down close at midfield it's hard to see much of anything at either end.

Rumor from a source in the Sycuan Tribe -- their Singing Hills golf club has an underused par-3 course at one end. One possibility under discussion is to convert part of that to training grounds for the team and their youth academy program.
