Wolfsburg’s losing to a better team, that’s it. A way better team for sure.

Huth has also been terrible this game. Completely overwhelmed as a midfielder lol, which she’s not

Who's idea was it to have her play in midfield? It's a clueless decision.

Jule Brand would fit in nicely.

I still wonder to these days how Japan managed to win U-20 WWC 2018 against a Spain's team sporting the likes of Aitana Bonmatì, Patri Guijiarro and Claudia Pina. Impressive players! :ninja:

Stroot’s bad coaching in the 2nd half cost them the game….that & Wilms!

glad Brand didn’t have anything to do with this mess

Well... none of this match was surprising to me...

I've said everything about Wolfsburg's biggest issues, and oh boy were every one of them on FULL display today...

Which is why I said all season this was their best chance to finally win another UWCL, as this was the deepest squad I've seen them build in a very long time, and I'm convinced we'll now see various key parts of this current team changed, removed, or finally upgraded, before they truly able to finally get over the hurdle of wining this trophy again.

Wolfsburg played only in one gear. They where lucky not to concede in the first half. And Stroot froze like a statue in the arctic. :whistling:
If you down 3-2 with 20 minutes to go and leave out Brand and Wasmuth, when you need a goal, then something is wrong. Well...on another note...some players just don`t have a winning mentality in big games. How I miss Nadine Kessler and Martina Müller. I dread the day when Popp retires. One of the last one`s who has that old school german mentality.

They haven't looked like a team all season lol.

Wilms is a uniquely poor RB, able to make any forward on her side of the field instantly convert into being a mediocre RB too lol. And I ask a very honest question... if Wilms was sold, would she ever play for another side capable of wining one of Europe's top leagues, or reaching UWCL finals...:whistling:

Plus the Hendrich - Janssen CB partnership should come to an end now too, or at least something to finally address over the next year. As Roord and Huth's performance today reminded us why Wolfsburg in dire need of more quality CM options; with Stroot expecting Oberdorf to do it all on her own Vs a trio of Barca players, being one of the most ridiculously amateurish displays of coaching I've seen at this level of women's football...:speechless:

I hope someone asked Stroot, why he only used 3 substitutes. If I was Kellermann, I`d be giving Stroot a side eye :cautious:

I hope Küver was actually brought into Wolfsburg team to be a CB, but I fear she'll spend her first year with them club playing as a RB, due to it being painfully obvious to all know that Stroot doesn't trust Wedemeyer, or Wolter, regardless of Wilms never looking like she'll be good enough to play for a team at this level of football.

Wolfsburg defending so poor for much of this season though, it's crazy to think they only lost a UWCL final to Barca 3-2, having lost the league by two points...:speechless: Typically a good defence the source of every good team with a strong attack; the one positive Wolfsburg can try and take forward, is knowing they simply need to defend better, and they'll instantly become a far better team.

He's struggled ALL season with this aspect of controlling a larger squad. And I remain firm in my belief, Stroot did better creating a stronger Wolfsburg team when he had less options to deal with during his first season...:whistling:

And honestly.. the long established culture/indent of Wolfsburg still hasn't changed very much from the last time they were in a UWCL final. Meaning even if this a positive for the sustained success of the club, until aspects of this change, they'll only continue to be 2nd best in Europe regardless of the talent they continue to bring to the club...:cautious:

    Oberdorf - Roord - Huth Vs Walsh - Bonmati - Guijarro....

Oberdorf did her job containing Bonmati, but I fear Stroot believed/hoped she'd stop all 3...:speechless: This lack of balance running throughout Wolfsburg's team all season, sitting at the route of them collapsing in the league, and limping towards a UWCL final where they'd manage to lose 3-2. after throwing away a 0-2 HT lead lol.

they also had Egurrola & Laia, but the problem could of been that they might of been packing an younger squad as both Pina & Navarro would compete & impress in the u17 WC later that year
    Spain U20 vs. Japan U20 - 24 August 2018 - Women Soccerway
Japan had an equally impressive scoreline in the quarters vs an all-star Germany who had an starting lineup that now inclue 8 current senior NT players
    Germany U20 vs. Japan U20 - 17 August 2018 - Women Soccerway
even though Japan's great at u20, it seems it's players struggle as they get into the senior level--which by now that 2018 squad should be peaking. I mean, dunno the whereabouts of all those players, but fair to say none got an contract as of yet from one of the Euro super clubs. And then reading too how Angel City fans are panning Endo's performance lately(two words most often used on her by AC fans-"bench her"). So don't see Japan making much of an imprint at the upcoming WC

just to back on threat again; everywhere I read, the major complaint as well was why Stroot didn't use Brand & Wassmuth even though several of his layers looked exhausted by the 60th minute mark(they already let in two goals by then)

and everybody's wondering why would Barca want Roord after that terrible performance from her?--so mostly likely WOB be stuck with her again, lol

from early consensus, Arsenal currently leads with the strongest recruitment, especially signing Russo, which now will give them Englan'd #1 striker, to go along with Sweden's #1 striker, Blackstenius & Netherlands #1 striker, Miedema., plus there was mention that they were after Bayern's #1 CB in Viggosdottir

LOL... clearly people haven't been paying attention to Wolfsburg..., as nothing about this final would reveal anything out of character from what we've witnessed from these players, or the type of coaching they'd receive as a team this season.

Why do you think I mocked them for limping their way to this seasons final lol.

    LOL, OK..

I'll repeat my point about Wolfsburg... they'll remain unlikely to win this competition without making some genuine adjustments to the way they implement their tactics, but I'm also convinced people would be very foolish to think them unable to continue reaching more UWCL finals over the coming years...:coffee:

Looking at the fallout from this seasons success and failure for Wolfsburg, I'm genuinely curious if the club will remain firm to their initial belief they've done enough good recruitment for next seasons domestic/European campaign...

    Brand/Jónsdóttir ------------------- Pajor/Popp -------------------- Huth/Waßmuth/Edemann
    ---------------------------------------- Xhemaili/Hagel --------------------------------
    ----------------------- Lattwein/Roord -------------- Oberdorf/Demann -------------
    Rauch/Agrež ----- Janssen/Hegering ------- Hendrich/Kuver ------ Wilms/Wolter/Wedemeyer
    --------------------------------- Frohms/Schmitz/Borbe -------------------------------------

Clearly this squad still overloaded in offense, but also uniquely weak in it's mid-field depth. It should be obvious Xhemaili, Demann, won't play next season, with it being likely Roord no longer at the club next season too. It leaves me thinking Wolfsburg should be actively trying to bring at least one strong CM to their club for next season...:cautious:

Leaving out Roord CAM, Xhemaili CAM, Demann DM, your left with Lattwein CM/DM - Oberdorf CM/DM - Hagel AM. And this really isn't enough quality depth for a side expecting to win UWCL's.

Adrijana Mori has extended her contract with Turbine Potsdam, she had arrived in 2022 having previously played for Jena.

be interesting to know where Weidauer & Schwalm are headed?(they seem to be the club’s two best prospects)

Leipzig signs a new contract with Fudella(arguably Bundi 2 mvp), only problem last pic of her was lying in hospital bed getting ready for some kinda operation
